Of course I have some disagreements—some very serious—with President Bush on a number of issues, but he excelled with the most critical element of his job description: keeping America safe.
My theory is that toward the end he was forced by the “disloyal” opposition in Congress to make a number of anti-Conservative concessions in the domestic arena in order to accomplish his defense objectives, and keep them from shutting down the Iraq war funding altogether when it mattered most for the Surge.

I believe many of the disloyal opposition needed to get out of the beltway, as they were being spoon fed incorrect data via skewed polls crafted for the sole purpose of causing them to decide incorrectly, which they fell for, and subsequently lost thier seat.
Says volumes about thier core beliefs vs the direction of the windvane.
