Arctic Air Floods Chicago to New York City Arctic air bottled up over Alaska will soon be unleashed over the Midwest and East. The cold air will arrive in two waves this week. The second surge threatens to be the harshest and farthest reaching.
The first shot of arctic air will plunge into the northern Plains behind a clipper system today. The bitterly cold air will spread across the Midwest and Deep South on Tuesday and the Northeast on Wednesday.
The second blast of cold will come from even deeper in the arctic. It will follow close behind the first, spreading into the northern Plains on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, the coldest air of the season will spread across the Midwest and the East.
I’m new to 24,but the first part was great last nite.
I’m in Rochelle (South of Rockford). About the same conditions here. The wife works in DeKalb and should be home early today. Tomorrow she plans to wait until it’s light before heading in to work. The last thing she needs is to drive in blowing conditions in the dark.
I’ll gas up my car this morning, and get the necessities at the grocery, then hibernate. At least we have a brand new snow blower...
I watched a couple years ago, but they had too many convergent story lines for me to get into it. Too confusing. I read here on FR last week that they were going back to the basics, so I tuned in. As you said, it was great. I watched both hours. Now I’m thinking of gearing up my DVD recorder and taping them. We’ll see...
We even went below freezing last night in Baghdad. It is COLD here!
You need to come back to Texas.
Wish I could help, but we traded our SUV a couple years ago for a sedan. Miss it in this kind of weather so this year we’re trading our older sedan for a SUV. A couple years ago, we’d been in mostly temperate winters (for here) so didn’t see the need for the SUV. Well, things change...
WOW!
I'm in the same area as you & I SOOOOO HATE WINTER! This Global Warming is killing us, man it's hot!!! (/sarc)
When I got this AM, it was a balmy +18.
You are welcome to the cold air, we have had enough - thank you.
And miss democratic Iraq voting for its leadership at the end of the month?
I'd much rather be part of that than to be stateside where some other {shudder!} event is taking place this month.
;-)
Is it really bad of me to be hoping that this frigid weather (sub zero the rest of the week here in Mid Wisconsin) ends up in Washington DC next Tuesday?
No problem. We'll (shudder!) cover your back...
yippee........
Been keeping an eye on it, but thanks for the heads up.
It gets warmer than that on MARS, in the summertime.
I heard on FNC, at some point early this morning, that it will be 30 degrees with a chance of snow in DC on THAT day.
