NewsWorld NewsNorth AmericaUSA Barack Obama Barack Obama 'kidnaps' 24 hero Jack Bauer US conservatives claim that the 24 character Jack Bauer has been 'kidnapped' by the new liberal agenda of President-Elect Barack Obama. By Tim Shipman in Washington 11 Jan 2009 US conservatives say Jack Bauer from 24 has been 'kidnapped' by the new liberal agenda of President-Elect Barack Obama. As the hero of the television action series, Bauer became a modern icon of rugged American values and a fictional flag waver for the Bush administration's determination to defeat terrorists. The intelligence agent, played by Keifer Sutherland, has never been afraid to torture or shoot to kill while tackling villainous foreigners intent on waging war on the American homeland. But now US conservatives are up in arms that the election of President-Elect Barack Obama has led the show's producers to pander to the liberal consensus in Hollywood, which they claim has led to the blacklisting of those who disagree with their anti-war views. When the series returns for its seventh season on Sunday night, Bauer will mouth the views of Mr Obama, who has vowed to end "enhanced interrogation", also known as torture, and close the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. And in an apparent bid to get in tune with the new president, the new season opens with Bauer facing a congressional investigation probing his use of torture and summary executions in previous series. "It's better that everything comes out in the open," Bauer says, echoing Democrat demands for greater transparency over US counter-terrorist tactics.

Of course he isn’t a Bush-bot. It isn’t fashionable in our country for that, especially in Hollywood.
However, this could be a ‘jump-the-shark’ moment for the show. Don’t ever disappoint your fan-base. That’s just stupid.
This doesn’t seem to be case IMO. While the liberal agenda is recognized by the main character, he “has no regrets” about doing what he has to do. In some ways the liberal agenda is the antagonist.
It certainly is pointing up the liberal agenda that persecutes and punishes those who protect our country. I nearly applauded when Jack told off the head of the Senate hearing committee.
It was disappointing to hear Jack say to the little FBI guy in the car that he agreed with the Senate hearing, but then he did say let the people decide what they want us to do. I think we’d all say — go ahead, Jack, get the bastards.
Did notice that the brief newsclip was from something like CNN — not Fox News as has always previously been the case on 24. Wonder what that is about.
Watched the first part of ‘24’ heard this and changed the ch. wrote ‘24’ off my to watch list. I read the full writeup but they left out the web sight name, if anyone has it let us know. Thanks
Then about 10 minutes later he showed remorse for working on a different set of rules than the rest of the country.
It's just 11 am so I will wait until "noon" to see if I go for a sammich or hang in there, I guess.
With the car scene, it seemed that he meant the public has a right to know what goes on, not that it shouldn’t happen.
Terrorists are terrorists.
I just wish we could call in Mitch Rapp for back up.
“...Red Foreman”
I get it — 70’s Show. He made a great kids-view-of-a-crappy-dad dad and he does make a good liberal weenie Senator. The man is a good actor.
Agree.
That article was stupid. 5 minutes into the show, Jack Bauer said he didn’t regret torturing all the people he tortured, and it wasn’t 30 minutes into the show before he was about stick a bic pen into a dude’s eye. Haha that was awesome.
But remember boys and girls, al-Qaeda only cuts people’s heads off because we started it.
As long as the Democraps can make us think fantasy is reality; it’s okay with them this country goes to hell in a handbasket.
Remember Clinton and his movie like administration. And the West Wing was the worst piece of propaganda trash I have channel surfed by.
Oh, Jack Bauer, I love you and you don’t look good looking like a girlie man.
"I say at this point, for different reasons, Bush and Hussein are both very threatening to world peace and to deny that is to be incredibly naive.".... "When I see the American flag, I go, 'Oh my God, you're insulting me.".... "When Communist U.S.S.R. was a superpower, the world was better off. The right-wing media is trying to marginalize the peace movement.".... "I don't think that the administration is being particularly honest with the American people about what this is going to cost in life and in dollars, what the dangers are, retaliatory strikes, once it happens, ... This is not a war that needs to happen immediately, if ever.".... "I feel like the American people are being lied to and manipulated. [President Bush] is trying to force 9/11 and Saddam together.".... "What has Iraq done to us?".... "Iraq is a manufactured conflict for the sake of geopolitical dominance in the area."-Janeane Garofalo
But, I'm still a little weary about Janeane Giraffe-a-lo's presence -- she wouldn't take that part without her agenda being voiced somewhere....
...and where the hell is Chloe?
