Heath Ledger's win wasn't the only thing that got stars emotional backstage at the Globes Prop 8 did it, too!

"It's un-American," Tom Hanks, who nabbed a Globe for producing the terribly popular John Adams, told me. I asked Hanks, one of the Biz's most politically astute members, why he thought the gay-marriage-banning proposition had passed, helped largely by huge sums of media money funneled through the pro-Prop 8 Mormon church.

"You put some good commercials on the air," deadpanned (accurately) the two-time Oscar winner, "you can convince anybody of anything."

Daughter of Bruce Dern. She was the female lead in Jurassic Park (no not the dinosaur).

how about the fact that Tom Hanks has probably made millions from the fact that his company produces that mormon show Big Love on HBO.

I didn;t even know the Globes were on...I was watching 24’.
Just what I need: another ego masturbation show from such astute beings like Tom Hanks and his lefty lectures.

Loved Jurassic park but for some reason I couldn’t stand Laura Dern, she bugged the heck out of me. What is it about her?

Dern was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd and the great-granddaughter of former Utah governor George Dern.

How about the snarl on Glenn Close’s face, closely resembling that of a rabid dog, when Waltz with Bashir (Israel) won for Best Foreign Film? That was an absolute highlight for me. In his acceptance speech, the filmmaker Ari Folman said, “I hope one day when [children] grow up and see this film ... it looks like an ancient video game and has nothing to do with their life whatsoever.” The film is about his experience of war during Israel’s invasion of Lebanon in 1982.

After Folman finished, the camera panned to Close and her rabid dog snarl. She angrily started talking to someone next to her before the camera panned away to Cameron Diaz giving a half-hearted golf clap.

That's interesting. Another Hollywood hit-job on people of the Christian faith, any Christian faith.

The irony of the Prop 8 is without the Black voter turnout driven by the celebutard messiah, Prop 8 would have certainly been defeated.

"Utah governor George Dern."

is that a Mormon governor? That would be interesting with Bruce Dern also in Big Love.

The last DVD bought was Dark Knight and they were Christmas gifts. I don’t mind shelling out my hard earned dough for a great conservative movie BUT the rest of them are downloads via bittorrent. I only pay for movies whose stars don’t badmouth the U.S. and who keep their mouths shut.

“She’s a lousy actress?”

Ha! Yes now that you mention it she was terrible, it was torturous to watch. Made you wonder how she got the part in such a major movie.

Laura Dern's husband, Ben Harper.

Ben Harper is multi-ethnic. His father, Leonard, was of African-American and Cherokee Indian ancestry, and his mother, Ellen Chase-Verdries, was Jewish.

******

George Dern was a non-Mormon Democrat in a largely Mormon and Republican state.

Dern was born in Dodge County, Nebraska, and followed his father John into the mining business in Utah. Dern grew to become one of the state's most powerful men in the mining industry, before running for the Utah State Senate in 1914.

at the National Governor's Conference he met then-Governor of New York Franklin D. Roosevelt. He supported Roosevelt's campaign for President in 1932, and was rewarded with the position of U.S. Secretary of War.

At age 64, in 1936, Dern passed away while still in office as the War Secretary. He was the grandfather of actor Bruce Dern.

"Laura Dern's husband, Ben Harper."

The best thing about Laura Dern marrying that is, now I won't have to worry about him dating either of my daughters. What a peach.
