No it's not. Chicago politicians are as a group very much against mere citizens being able to obtain, keep and bear the means of self defense. This most specifically includes the one about to move to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, DC....Racist thugs prefer unarmed victims.

While I'd agree with you about gun rights, I don't think it's an issue here. Middle of the night vandalism would be deterred by the simple presence of a watchman. And these attacks happen in Florida, a long time concealed carry state. And I've no doubt vandalism occurs in Texas. A better deterrent would be serious criminal charges, which won't happen in Chicago. If you recall our Pres to be opposed felony charges for a youth committing his SECOND violent felony, having gotten a pass on the first youthful indescretion.

Relative to arms, a better example would be the violent attacks, which I fear will escalate. Compare the attack on the community center in Seattle, 1 dead Jew, four wounded, a sane Muslim perp who admits it was a crime directed at Jews, and a jury that refused to convict. On anything. To the LA El Al attack. 1 (2?-I think 2nd survived) dead passenger, 1 dead perp. A much better outcome, because armed security was on the scene. And a competent, armed civilian would have sufficed.

While he would no doubt be in favor of felony charges for an ordinary law-abiding citizen who shot one of these feral youths in self defense. Agree?
