How was he not following the law? The stuff was in the trunk. 1,000 rounds of 22LR will easily fit in your jacket pockets. One can transport guns (in the hold) on airplanes if you follow the rules.

He did not take his registered assault weapon directly to the range as required. He stopped somewhere else first, that’s illegal. Apparently red lights are exempt.
