At the risk of sounding heartless.

There are far too many government employee who have never experienced the downturn of the economy. Their benefits have expanded exponentially for years.

They, and their liberal cohorts, have voted for increased socialism.

They now have to experience the fruit of their (lack of) labor.

They, and their liberal cohorts, have voted for increased socialism.

This past November, state hacks and teachers unions from around the country lobbied like mad to scare the voters of Massachusetts into voting down a repeal of the state's income tax. They, and their retired ranks, have it made and they know it. They complain bitterly when they don't get an annual increase, where the self-employed have to deal with both ebbs and flows.

Like a parasite that drains its host until both die, they will tap the private sector and its workers to the last drop.

Then what?

I agree completely. If I knew one of these workers, I'd tell him — sincerely and consolingly — that he is very fortunate. He will not lose his job, as many in the private sector have; he still has great benefits, including medical; a ten percent cut in salary isn't easy to take, but at least prices everywhere are down, so their money buys more; and they now have two three-day weekends — not counting paid holidays — a month off. I think many of these people will end up relishing the additional days off. Although most people (including me) wouldn't be happy with a 10% pay cut, many (including me) would trade say, five percent, of their salary for an additional day or two off a month.
