Report: McCain ducking media to avoid questions about Palin
Hot Air ^ | January 8, 2009 | Allahoundit

Sen. John McCain doesn’t want to talk about the presidential campaign, and he certainly doesn’t want to discuss Sarah Palin…

During a GOP-senators retreat this week at the Library of Congress, McCain told his colleagues that Republicans need to reach out more to diverse groups, rather than just relying on Christian conservatives, if they want to regain majority status, according to sources who attended the event.

“[McCain] talked about the lessons he learned on the campaign trial, and the ‘discussion’ he had with the American public and what he learned from it,” said one GOP insider.

But the man who once called the media his “base” has not done TV or press interviews lately, and he won’t do so for at least several more weeks, according to his aides. He especially wants to avoid discussions about his relationship with Palin, whose nomination as McCain’s running mate was either the best or worst thing that happened to his campaign, depending on who you talk to.

I was thinking of all the problems with getting the carbureted engines to meet increasingly tight emission standards. How did that “lean burn” thing work out long term?

GM wisely went with throttle body fuel injection with the 1975 Cadillac Sevilles.

Regardless of politics or party if John (or Obama for that matter) was any kind of virtuous man he would defend Governor Palin’s honor and excoriate the press their attempt at character assignation and libelous coverage.

...need to reach out more to diverse groups, rather than just relying on Christian conservatives.

This jackass is easy to despise!

His problems with his arms wasn't caused by his tormenters in the Hanoi Hilton. It was from 'reaching out' to grope his supposedly opposite numbers.

While it’s true that Christian conservatives are no longer a large enough base to deliver victory in a national election, going out of your way to antagonize them just to earn a few pats on the head from the MSM doesn’t seem like the wisest strategy, either.

At least Juan is consistent. He was a limp-wristed, traitorous, sell-out puss before the campaign, during and after. Can’t ask for more than that, huh!

Republicans need to reach out more to diverse groups, rather than just relying on Christian conservatives, if they want to regain majority status...

Christian conservatives didn't vote for you in 2000, John, so you still hate their guts. Then, you ran them off in 2008. Is that what this is all about?

It's called "holding a grudge".

And being "a loser".

Go away, John. Just go away.

Don't confuse the issues any longer.

I voted for Palin. McCain just happened to be on the ticket.

This is what happens when the GOP hoists the ropes on the Big Tent and lets the media mavens and non-Republicans decide who wins the nomination by opening the primaries to all comers - those who also happen to hate their guts!

They don't call them the "Stupid Party" for nothing.

Pretty soon they'll be known as the "Dead Party".

Why should we take advice on how to win from a loser?

>>>McCain was on with Niel Cavuto just yesterday. Live.<<<

Saw that...and Cavuto was not easy on him. McCain is his old self again...talking about reaching across asiles and bipartisanship.

I think you analysis may be correct - the MSM (not Cavuto) want to destroy Sarah any way they can....and they see discrediting her through McCain as one way.

“He has said that he plans to run. Let’s help his primary opponent.”

Yeppers, that is EXACTLY what I intend to do. I don’t live in his state, but, I will consider it my public duty to help out the fine people of Arizona to rid themselves of this puke.

When I was a did we had a ‘69 Valiant and a ‘74 Scamp. They leaked. A lot. Every time it rained. Had the carpets replaced half a dozen times between them. Dealership never could fix the problem in either car.

I'm just happy the creep won't be running again.

Oh, but he already started a new PAC called "Country First" for his next election run in 2010.

I would say out of sight out of mind, but with mcloon he was already out of his mind, now he's trying to stay out of sight.

As usual, the choleric communist collaborator gets it backwards.

McCain lost his onions in Viet-Nam, or after he married his new wife, I’ll bet she’s a liberal and converted him with her big blue eyes.

During his 2000 run there were several pictures circulating of Cindy McCain wearing a lapel pin that signified solidarity with Hillary Clinton.
