Diabetics have been injecting themselves with insulin produced from genetically altered plants... infused with human genes, for years, IIRC.
And the net result of that has been for people to become content to remain in their diseased condition, and treat symptoms, rather than seeking the cure of their condition. - Who knows how many man-years of life have been lost, and how many productive years of life have been lost for this cause.
