Oh, so people are expected to place their lives in jeopardy... No. However, it is important that a person who claims credentials in a certain field provide their name when making a judgement based on their expertise in which they are credentialed.

But he has provided his name and credentials with his affidavits to the courts. That's what counts. With various threats made against him he is justified in keeping hiding his identity concealed from the general public.
I would do the same under the circumstances.
