Hey everybody -
I have a question from my mother. Thankfully, GWB is still president. If Obama moves from the Hay-Adams Hotel, to Blair House, to the White House (which is what he plans to do), where will the Bushes stay right before the inauguration? The president-elect can move into the WH 5 days before the event, but the current president is still president. So, do the Bushes move to the quest quarters for those 5 days? Do the Obamas stay in the quest quarters or do they move directly into the president’s quarters? Inquiring minds want to know!
I looked around the web and only found articles about the Obamas not being able to stay in Blair House.
Thanks.
I got booted...grrr...
Have fun dancing with the pandas! ;-)
And many past president elects have not stayed at Blair House for the five days they are allowed. For instance, Jimmy Carter only stayed there one night.
Supposedly, the WH staff and ushers begin painting etc right after the Bush's leave to go to the inauguration in the a.m. They say one moving van from Illinois will be coming in while the moving van to TX will be leaving, on the 20th. Although Laura said in an interview this week the only thing she was taking was a dresser that she inherited from W's grandmother. But I guess the van will be filled with their clothes, books and things.
The Obamas will not actually be in the White House residence till after the parade on the 20th, to give the staff time to prepare for them.
Yeah - we’re getting pretty fast with the clicker at our house so we don’t have to listen to He Who Shall Not Be Named. (My kid’s like that one!)
Thanks for the info. I can’t tell you how much it pained me not to know this, as I am considered the family expert on everything!
Ohh - ok, thanx, I’ll catch on.
The quotes - 21twelve told about the quote thingy - pardon my newness to the thread please.
I received a toaster a few weeks ago -- may I have this pix on red toaster?
