...Ill. Secretary of State Jesse White...

Typically racist Democrats. They won't give a black man his due with the White man's approval.

State court rebuffs Burris on Senate signature
January 9, 2009 3:03 PM

The Illinois Supreme Court today rejected Roland Burris’ effort to get the signature he needs to complete his appointment to the U.S. Senate.

The court’s unanimous ruling tosses the issue back to Washington. Democratic U.S. Senate leaders, including Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, now will have to decide whether to hold firm to their insistence that Burris get a signature on his appointment form from Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White before gaining admittance.

Jesse White: I’ve been made the fall guy
January 7, 2009 6:52 AM

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White said this morning he has been made “the fall guy” by the U.S. Senate, which he said is using him as an excuse to not seat Roland Burris.

“They could have seated him without my signature; my signature is not required,” he told WGN-AM 720’s John Williams.

The Senate barrred Burris Tuesday, saying he lacked proper credentials because his appointment was not signed by White.

Uh, didn’t the Illinois Supreme Court just interpret state law and decide a signature wasn’t needed? Looks like Burris will have to go to federal court. Good god, the Senate is pathetic.

Apparently what they will do is break the law with impunity.

How quickly can Blago be convicted and a new governor sworn in? I want two Senate appointees fighting for the seat.

CNN) — Illinois’ highest court on Friday validated the appointment of Roland Burris to fill Barack Obama’s vacant U.S. Senate seat, ruling that the Illinois secretary of state does not have to sign off on it.

Roland Burris’s appointment to the U.S. Senate is valid, the Illinois Supreme Court says.

The court’s opinion states that “no further action is required by the Secretary of State or any other official to make the Governor’s appointment of Roland Burris to the United States Senate valid under Illinois law.”

The Illinois SC interpreted the law correctly. Jessie White’s signature is NOT required on appointments. So now Durbin’s saying they’ll not seat Burris without that signature is giving not only Burris but Blago an opening that’s as wide as a semi. This is stupid to the extreme.

Making up the law as they go along. Could have said that he would not seat Burris without Clint Eastwood’s signature. That would have been more valuable.

In honor of Robert KKK Byrd’s fifty years in the Senate. Burris is denied.

and why will Jesse White not sign ?

Because there's no reason for him to, and to do so would validate being used as a pawn in this political game. I wouldn't sign either.

Well we see where the state’s rights stand with the democrats. A democrat senate apparently chooses who will sit among them and the states be damned.

I can’t imagine they’ll (The ONE) allow this
controversy to continue. Imagine, the glorious
inauguration coming up and all the pageantry and
press swooning and fainting crowds.

Why would Durbin and Reid take this route?

Meanwhile, the lawyers in IL and elsewhere are
oiling up their artillery for a loooong impeachment
battle and maybe a Senate legal fight.

LOL ... cracks me up, the transparent idiocy of all
of them. But in reality, it does stink.

Jesse White should sign it, then fly to Hawaii and lock it up with Barry’s (Kenyan) burf certificate. Let’s hold ‘em both hostage for a while.
