WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama, who deliberately distanced himself from lobbyists during his campaign and his transition, appointed a defense contractor's lobbyist Thursday to become his No. 2 official at the Defense Department. Obama acknowledged that his choice appeared to break with his self-imposed rules to keep lobbyists at arm's length.

WOW and this early in the game. The Empty Suit is going to shock his own people. He hasn’t been sworn in and he couldn’t care less who he ticks off. What a brazen arrogant POS.

Watch out! Here comes the “CHANGE”.

That’s great. He took a former lobbyist because he comes so highly recommended by people across the political spectrum. Don’t good lobbyists automatically build those kind of relationships?

I wonder if this is some sort of record for breaking campaign promises, haven’t most people waited until sworn in?

Lynn is a protege of Teddy Kennedy and was part of a cabal of think tank gabbers along with William Cohen who fancied themselves military experts.

They fought Reagan with ridiculous schemes for redesigning the military, all of which translated to spending less so that the money could go to welfare programs.

He never wore the uniform, but never hesitated to tell those who did how the military should work. He is being groomed as Gates’ successor in about a year and then watch him try to redesign the greatest military in history to equal that of Andorra, minus the fancy uniforms.

"William Cohen who fancied themselves military experts."

Hmmmm. William Cohen. Do you mean William Cohen, the worst SECDEF that this country has seen since Edwin Stanton? That William Cohen?

Wow, we get Carter redux and Clinton redux all in one package.
Such a deal!

We predict there will be another 9/11 in the next 4 years on Obama’s watch, or likely worse.

Let’s see how it plays out.

There will be a desperate need to rebuild at the end of his 4 years and we will have to scramble to regain any leadership in the world.

William J. Lynn III, Obama's choice for deputy defense secretary, was senior vice president for government operations at Raytheon Co

AKA, RatCO. They benefited greatly from the Clinton cutbacks, buying the programs of Texas Instruments Defense Group, merging with Hughes, and buying several other companies as well (E-Systems). They sold off the duplicative operations and laid off lots and lots of people, especially at TI. What was once in 3 major building complexes, plus space scattered about the main TI campus, they are now in one complex. After saying they would move missile production to one of the TI Facilities, once they merged with Hughes that went out the window and they moved it all to a former Hughes facility in Arizona.

I image they'll find themselves doing it again. Wonder who's left to buy or merge with?

His first job will be to undermine and sabotage Gates. Everything that goes wrong will be Gate’s fault.

Oh Brother. Is anyone else seeing an Administration completely mired in corruption, sweetheart deals, paybacks and graft on the horizon?

Yep, that William Cohen.

He was the “Military Reformer” Senator Cohen back then, then became Clinton’s SecDef after another incompetent, Les (Nope, those Blackhawks in Somalia don’t need help) Aspin.

Cohen’s entire SecDef tenure was nothing but a show and tell with his African American arm candy wife, Janet Langhorne. Whenever he came to your base, it was to tell about how great his wife was and all you people take care of her real nice while she’s here.

Did you ever hear of the “Cohen Doctrine”? Nope. The draft dodger was clueless on the military as is this guy Lynn. Cohen was an all star colege basketball player, but was able to get himself out of the draft. Lynn’s resume is equally devoid of military service.

"The draft dodger was clueless on the military as is this guy"

Speaking of clueless and draftdodger, I'm reminded that Barry's first major military decision will deal with "homosexuals (I refuse to use the word gay) in the military. Just like his comrade before him, a guy with absolute no military experience and overt disdain for people in uniform, he will ignore advise from dozens and dozens of life long career military men just to appeal to a base element of his party.

We'll be lucky, if at the end of four years, our Soldiers aren't in pink berets and our Marines in ass-less chaps and biker jackets.

The braindeads that voted for him have no idea what he’s doing. Most of them were only paying attention for the 5 minutes it took to vote for him. I don’t think most of them knew what he ever stood for in the first place, regardless of his pack of lies campaign. He was just a cool black man in a suit.
This is why people should be required to pass a test before voting.
I am stunned at his brazen arrogance tho. Unbelievable.
