Sadly, our recent headlines are a clear indication that what happened to Terri is only getting worse. We are seeing that many of our institutions caring for our most vulnerable are being encouraged to devalue the sanctity of human life," they said. And we will continue to fight the culture of death at every level.

And we will continue to fight the culture of death at every level. Personally, I actually want my end of life instructions carried out.
But that is just me.

Then be sure that you have a living will. If you don’t, then your caretakers should err on the side of life as that is the only moral thing to do, especially when the spouse asking you to be dehydrated to death may have been involved in the onset of your disability.

Then be sure that you have a living will If nothing else, the Shaivo case made it clear that people should make their wishes known and written up.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER!!!
If you are bored by the topic - hang out elsewhere.
We will never forget or stop talking about Terri until justice
has been served to her evil tormentors and murderers.

Are you saying that a family DOES NOT have the right to remember a dead daughter and sister?

And if medical technology changes in the meanwhile,
you will be trapped by your own idea of what you
thought you’d want when you drafted your document.
You will be held accountable by your words.
Good luck!

Personally, I actually want my end of life instructions carried out.If you have them clearly written with copies to multiple people, I agree. But Terry did not have that. There was only had conflicting accounts of what she said she wanted. In such cases, I believe we should always err on the side of life.

But Terry did not have that. There was only had conflicting accounts of what she said she wanted. And Terri's estranged, adulterous "husband" only decided AFTER she had been awarded nearly $1 million (which was subsequently spent killing her).
Additionally, even if Terri HAD stated that she didn't want to be kept alive through "artificial" means, Florida statute 765.306 ONLY allows for the witholding of "life-prolonging procedures," this means respirators and ventilators NOT food and water. Moreover, Florida statute 765.309 states, "Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to condone, authorize, or approve mercy killing or euthanasia, or to permit any affirmative or deliberate act or omission to end life other than to permit the natural process of dying;" as food and water are necessary for EVERYONE, this is obviously a deliberate act.

Had I been in Mrs. Schaivo's (I didn't know her so I won't call her by her first name) position I would be begging for release.
And I certainly would want my wife to decide these things (if I didn't file the right paperwork), as the law allows.
