A domestic dispute 911 call prompted a Scott County deputy to shoot after he says the occupants hollered that they had a gun. No one was injured.

A Scott County deputy responding to a call of a domestic dispute burst into a house and, when the occupants yelled that they had a gun, fired several shots.
The house, however, was the wrong building. The call had come from a second building on the property, in the 23000 block of Logan Way. No one was injured in the shooting.
"My impression is they thought that somebody was breaking into their house," Scott County Sheriff Kevin Studnicka said. "They didn't realize it was a deputy."
Studnicka said the deputy was sent to the address to respond to the disturbance call, which came in about 5 p.m. A knock on the door of the house went unanswered, so he forced his way in through the front door. Two men living in the house announced they had a gun, and the deputy fired, Studnicka said.
The incident comes just weeks after the city of Minneapolis agreed to a settlement of more than $600,000 for a raid on the wrong residence in 2007. In that instance, the SWAT team, acting on wrong information, exchanged fire with Vang Khan in his north Minneapolis home. Khan thought the officers were criminal intruders.

On a related not, I wonder if any studies have been done to calculate what the percentage of police calls, and expense are that are related to “Domsestic Disputes”. My guess will be well over a third, and even more for the evening shifts.
More and more police corruption. Mark my words: It will only continue to get worst.
Give me a break.
Police officers are not killed "regularly", yet alone killed "regularly" by gunfire.
A police officer's life is not worth more than any other persons life. A life is a life. Police are not special, they are not god, they are not better than you or me, but our definitely necessary (especially in major population centers) ...
I don’t have an issue. Every job has its hazards. Most people do the job without beating drums and proclaiming how dangerous it is. As I said before, some people just have to be special. ;0)
Nobody said they were not necessary. Plumbers, mechanics, electricians, doctors, sanitation workers, and a host of other professions are also. I don’t hear them claiming “Special” status.
2004: 55
2005: 53
2006: 51
2007: 65
2008: 36 (so far)
well over 1/month. to me, that's regular enough.
I'm sure their are more killed in accidents than in shootings.
well over 1/month. to me, that's regular enough.
Using your logic, our soldiers die regularly while deployed in a foreign conflict zone. Smokers die regularly of cancer. Kids die regularly because of tainted Chinese milk etc...
Brilliant logic.
You must be confused, I said Law enforcement is necessary, HOWEVER they are not special and are no better than you or me. I'm tired of some that feel Police are special and better than you or me. They are just another person doing a job.
I’m not the least bit confused. We agree on that point. I watched an original Dragnet show last week. It was about Police picking on Minorities. Joe Friday (Jack Webb)was a Public Relations officer. He told a young policeman that he wouldn’t last very long if he didn’t lose his attitude problem. That attitude seems to be with us still.
I said by gunfire during peactime as part of their job, genius.
Oh my.
I was simply using the word "regularly" according to how you have defined it.
A police officer does not "regularly" get killed by gunfire.
Statistics are great because you can make them do/say whatever you want.
police officers are the only people regularly killed by gunfire,
Really and here I thought convenience store guys would be right up there and then there is liquor stores and
I wonder how many Pizza Delivery people or cab drivers have been killed or injured this year.
