And the dioceses producing the most priests are the more tradional, orthodox dioceses with bishops who have the Pope’s back.
I’m not talking about your or my definition of “just”.
I’m talking about the doctrine of Just War (If memory serves me correctly it is based upon the writings of Thomas Aquinas?)
You completely missed my point.
You do not need to like this for it to be true.
The church is *not* living up to its own traditions. It is *not* calling spades, spades. It is instead catering to heedless contemporary pacifist sentiment. And that is a disgrace.
Teach me teacher!
Which wars fit all 4 criteria?
The closest I come up with - is our response to Pearl Harbor.
But of course - only in the response to the Japanese - not the Germans.
According to the criteria - the Japanese attacked us.
In Great Britains case - if they followed the criteria, they didn’t have reasonable chance of success, so shouldn’t have fought.
Martino is not a favorite at the Vatican.
From an old file:
“Michael Novak Attacks Cardinal Martino, Defends the Iraq War
Sept 16, 2004
Martino? There he goes again! The Italian newspaper Il Foglio ran a piece Dec. 16 about the frustration at the Vatican, at the secretariat of state, with the imprudent, irascible anti-Americanism of Cardinal Martino, an unfortunate recent appointment (late last year) to the Council for Justice and Peace, who has not ceased being an embarrassment to his superiors. By Michael Novak.
(Source unknown, 17 December 2003) When I was in Rome last February, Cardinal Martino was already under heavy fire for his intemperate and irrepressible anti-Americanism. Even those who before the war leaned more to the French/German position than to the American were dismayed by his uncalled-for comments.”
So I take it you never called your male parent: “Dad” or “father”?
Hmmmmmm...?
Now shut up.
Isn’t there a passage where Paul calls himself a “father”?
Cardinal Renato Martino -- the president of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and the Vatican's former ambassador to the United Nations -- said that the Italian government should allow the Koran to be taught during the hour mandated for Catholic religious instruction.

Vatican cardinal says U.S.-Mexico fence "inhuman"

The Vatican should stay out of matters other than religion. They pulled this same stuff during the Iraq conflict.
Anti semitism probably is an empty phrase today. It is not like homophobic which is a term of considerable power that serves its ideological masters well.
Anti semitism as a practical matter has probably never been more vibrant as a global idea. The bashing of Israel is hugely popular in the global community.
The idea of Zionism versus belief in Islamic states is a sharp contrast rooted in anti semitism because ‘Jews should not have their own state.’
“WE” is a proposal that anyone who objects to the arguments of the Cardinal be given moral license to use violence against the quasi sovereign enclave of Vatican City. Its relatively small geography is like Israel and creates the possibility of this analogy.
I should hope so.
i will never call the pope “Holy Father”. nor any catholic clergyman with a white collar “Father”.
i never called my dad Father, or Holy Father.
it isn’t me they need to be concerned with.
The Roman church believes that There is something wrong with this outlook;Somehow the Roman church thinks
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach Adonai
that Islam is not the religion of the Evil One.
G-d's Chosen People are the Evil ones.
it impugns the Holy Word of G-d.
Nice try, Jesus di not capitalize “father”. Your male parent is not your father, admit it. That would be consistent with your stupid prior statement.
Here's what he said, at least, what's left of it by the time it got to the onlne newspaper of the year:
"Let's look at the conditions in Gaza: these increasingly resemble a big concentration camp," said Cardinal Martino.
Cardinal Martino said it was in neither parties interest to carry on fighting and urged both to show more willingness to hold peace talks.
"If they can't come to an agreement, then someone else should do it (for them). The world cannot sit back and watch without doing anything.
"We Christians are not the only ones to call this land 'holy', Jews and Muslims do so too. The fact that this land is the scene of bloodshed seems a great tragedy," he added.
Then you're going to say "For more than a millenia the Church preached that the exile of the Jews was their divine punishment for rejecting their god. When the Jewish state was born, it was a thorn in their foot. The church obviously still rejects all Jewish claims to the holy land and as long as Jews have it, it will be living reminder to their misplaced ideology. "
Here's a hint for you people who believe every little provocative news headline:
"Making remarks that seem to be based on Hamas propaganda while ignoring its numerous crimes ... does not bring the people closer to truth and peace," foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor told AFP."
Looks like you and the Cardinal have allot in common. Why don't you take your idiotic anti-Catholic calumny somewhere else?
Maybe your time would be better spent urging the Israeli government to stop screwing around and finish the job already.
Every time, the government stops short of finishing it, pulls back, gives up more land, moves people around, rocket attacks and suicide bombers again, another military action, stop, pull back, negotiate, move stuff around, rocket attacks suicide bombers, repeat over and over.

If that’s not reason to be anti-Catholic, I don’t know what is. The Catholics, throughout history, have always sided with evil. Hence, over 50% voted for Obama.
