Go back in history to the start of this war on terror..he was covering the stories I think in Afhgahanstan, and there was a critically wounded soldier brought in and they did not have a surgeon there who could treat the soldier. Gupta dove scrubbed in and took over the surgery to save a life. He got hell from some in the media since he was there to cover a story..but his reaction as a doctor took first place. Maybe someone with more skill at finding this story can help with more details,

I remember hearing something about this. My thoughts and comments about this though have more to do with Obama’s decision making process rather than Dr. Gupta. I am not questioning his skill as a doctor and he does have an impressive resume. Thank God he was there and able to work with the injured soldier. Maybe he will be one of the better picks for this administration.
