Is anyone from Florida keeping up with the story of Aaron Rimar, the son of a prominent businessman in Pinellas County, who ran down Heather and Seth Whalley in his mini-van. Heather died and Seth is still recovering from his injuries. Seth is taking care of his three children. Aaron Rimar was under the influence of four prescription drugs that were not prescribed to him. The reports keep pointing out that the amount of drugs in Rimar were at or below safe levels, but that is besides the point. No toxicology report was ever released, just public statements. This happened in April 2008 and the man, who has an atrocious driving record and is the son of a prominent businessman, got community service and a $500 fine. I have been keeping up with the limited stories and have posted most of it here:
The most recent story is from Fox 13 in Tampa Bay. Story is here but it leaves out some details:
I hope some of your Florida people are keeping the pressure on the Mayor, State Attorney, and even the Governor. This is an injustice. I hope that the civil case will bring some hard justice down on the Rimar family.
Pinellas county is satan's winter home.
Oh, FRiend, God bless you. How could you know how irredeemably corrupt those people are.
You're talking about the very county where a disabled woman was starved to death by court order.
If you want justice, you'll have better luck in Baghdad.
Good luck in the civil trial. The best lawyers money can buy trumps right every time.
This is what I hear. Investigative journalists, June Maxam from North Country Gazette, has been chronicling all of this. I am so thankful for her and her paper for what they have been doing. And Crist, the Governor, has given a nice little appointment to Aaron Rimar’s lawyer, so there...
Satan may also keep a small winter residence in Lee County as well.
Lee County has some serious issues too.

The precedent was set by Ashley Townsend in Orlando. Young Ashley was driving a minivan near the UCF campus in Orlando when she ran a red light because she was texting on her cell phone. She ran over a killed two young girls, ages (I think) 2 and 4.
It took the Orlando DA and FHP 18 months to come up with something to charge her with because they just couldn't find any law she violated. Turns out, daddy is a high-priced lawyer in Tallahassee and was buying everybody and their brother off to keep her out of prison so her life wouldn't be ruined (yes, they seriously said that!).
Daddy paid the family of those two girls off to keep them from pressing criminal charges against his daughter who, in the long run, ended up with 30 days of home confinement, loss of her DL for 1 year and (I think) 200 hours of community service.
Florida is racking up a VERY bad record for these kinds of traffic-related deaths. If you want to know why Rimmer isn't in jail, follow the money in what passes for Florida's "legal" system.
If the driver has already been punished by a fine and community service, that undoubtedly covered all elements of the crime. The Gov can do little.
There might be the possibility he could be charged with using controlled substances without a prescription, but that would be a very long shot.
A civil case against the driver is an option, but unless his father owned the vehicle, there are probably no deep pockets to go after.
Long Live Dixie Hollins!
I remember that case; it stunk to high heaven. Was vehicular homicide not an option?
I was a Detroit driver for many years but I have to say...Florida drivers are CRAZY with a capital “C.”
We vacation in the Orlando and Tampa areas frequently. My in-laws lived in Pasco County — WHAT is up with the traffic light timing??? Long, long red lights, short green lights and ridiculously short yellows. It’s like they’ve been engineered to back up traffic, and the seniors crossing the roads on the power chairs and Amigos aren’t helpful.
While we were in Port St. Lucie we saw so many accidents and police patrols it made us think fondly of I-94.
You would think so but, according to the DA, Florida just didn't have any laws that covered what she did.
Huh!!?? (My reaction!)
Thanks,
It’s only a guess, but I’d say it’s the browser.

It describes what the image is.
There shouldn't be a "/" after jpg and there should not be a space. Also note what I've hightlighted in red and compare to the what's in blue below. The address is wrong.
It should look like this:
