Mercury batteries have been banned because they contained mercury. But now compact fluorescents are being mandated, and by the way they contain mercury. And my guess is that the average household will possess more mercury from the lights than they would have from mercury batteries (used only in button-sized camera batteries and exotic test equipment).

When they mandate this here, we’ll burn candles.

(NOT THAT I AM ADVOCATING THIS) I have wondered what would happen if a bunch of people “accidentally” dropped compact flourescents on the steps of the capitol.

And I once heard that if you break one - and who hasn't broken a light bulb before - you need to call in a hazmat team to clean up the mercury.

Spaghetti bulbs are a novelty - another "bright" idea sold to the Congress to legislate someone a fortune. If every lightbulb in the country has to be changed out, someone is a new milliionaire.

And, again...the only ones suffering are the consumers.

I'm going to stock up on incandescents...I'll keep them in the same place I keep my stocked up ammunition, and my stocked up food, and all of the other third world stocks my government is forcing me to keep because of democrat ignorance.
