The odds of that are too great to even compute. Then 3 versions of his citation for the Silver Star? In reality, you receive only one citation from the person awarding it not over a 18 year period. Finally, a DD214 which cites in the remarks column “a board of officers had reviewed the service record and recommend an Honorable discharge” This was six years after his enlistment ended.
I never had such notation in the remarks column on my four DD214s, just Honorable in the appropriate column.

Isn’t it true that Kerry was meeting with the enemy (the Viet Cong) while still an officer in the U.S. military? I’ve always thought he got a less than honorable discharge for that, and that Carter cleaned it up for him.
