“And by adding tax plus shipping will destroy the internet sales.”

We have a winner! This is exactly what would happen and conversely would make goods and services bought in-state comparably cheaper, thereby raising revenue for the state and further robbing it's taxpayers of their hard earned money.

I do not agree. Tax Avoidance is only a small reason I shop online. I run a small business. I have an hourly shop rate. What is my time worth when I drive around looking for an item?

Add Fuel and car costs, Aggravation, Dealing with disinterested clerks with Attitudes, and going through coughing diseased crowds.

The ease of comparison shopping online absorbs tax and shipping charges. I can always find a better deal on an item, and in a couple of days a guy in a brown truck shows up.

With most of my industrial vendors, my records of purchases are stored. I can reorder frequently-used supplies and parts with a single click, and then get back to work and forget about the purchasing drudgery.

While I deeply resent the looting and outright theft being attempted by the states, remember they have always done it at the brick-and-mortars as well, and usually calculated on higher prices.

A significant number, probably half, of all my vendors already have in-state presences, so the effect on me would be not even noticed. One of my largest vendors is in the next state, so I'd just switch to a phone order, as I do half the time with them anyway.

The point is, if I am driving around running errands, I am not getting product out. And running around on wild goose chases costs a LOT more than the Sales Tax.
