“’Political suicide’ for Israel to ignore Hamas attacks”
Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 1/6/2009 4:00:00 AM

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “A former Palestinian terrorist who became a Christian says it would have been political suicide for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s government not to strike back at Hamas terrorists who continue to launch deadly rocket attacks against Israeli civilians.

Recently a former U.S. intelligence official reported that Hamas is now using Iranian-built Katyusha and Grad rockets that have dramatically extended the terrorists’ reach. Indeed Hamas rockets have struck the southern cities of Beersheba and Ashdod, close to Tel Aviv.

Walid Shoebat is a former member of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and author of the new book God’s War on Terror. He says the Olmert government has had no choice but to deal with the terrorist attacks.”

“Killing Their Own”
By Jacob Laksin
FrontPageMagazine.com | Tuesday, January 06, 2009

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “From reprimands of “disproportionate response” to condemnations of civilian casualties, Israel’s military offensive in Gaza has drawn de rigueur denunciations from the international community. Less noticed is that while Israel has taken great pains to avoid innocent deaths in Operation Cast Lead, at great peril to its fighting men and women, Hamas vigilantes have spent recent days deliberately assaulting and killing their fellow Palestinians, just as they have done for years.

According to the Jerusalem Post, since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, more than 75 Gaza Palestinians have been shot in the legs or have had their hands broken; more than 35 have been executed by Hamas operatives who accuse them of being Israeli “collaborators.” Of course, Gaza is not teeming with Israeli spies and most of Hamas’s victims are not only not traitors but likely helped vote the terrorist group into power in the January 2006 legislative elections. Instead, Hamas’s campaign of homegrown terror is the latest example of the terrorists turning on their Palestinian compatriots – a brutal but seldom-discussed cycle of violence in which Palestinians emerge as their own worst enemy.”

“Barak: We’ve paid a price for a bitter, unavoidable battle”
By JPOST.COM STAFF

SNIPPET: “A day after four soldiers were killed in Gaza operations, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Israel had paid a price for a bitter, unavoidable battle.

“We are now in the eleventh day of Operation Cast Lead. Last night, we paid a heavy price,” Barak said on a tour of the Osem factory in Sderot. “I send my condolence to the bereaved families and wish the casualties a speedy recovery.”

“It is a bitter battle, but an unavoidable one,” he continued. “No peace-loving country can allow a terrorist organization to ruin daily life and embitter the lives of civilians.””
