My guess is that you had great parents. I know I did. When I listen to Rush talk about his folks it reminds me of my mom and dad. Both of my parents were smart, witty and very involved in civics. My mom was out walking precincts registering voters while I stayed behind coloring at GOP headquarters in Bakersfield the day JFK was shot. I had a front row seat to politics my entire life and was taught at the knee of masters. All the great politicians from either side of the aisle know not to take themselves too seriously. Everything always works out perfectly if you keep your head screwed on straight. Our family motto is "No running. No screaming." No matter what happens stay cool and figure out what part of the situation is good for you. And most important is the part about having fun. Life is too short and I shall not squander a moment feeling sorry for myself.
So the next day after election those that were worked into a tizzy (by Hannity/Levin and each other) reacted like their child just died and cried that the world was over. They actually thought that democrats would continue to have the compete immunity they had for the past 4 years provided by GWB, even after Bush is gone. But even the MSM gets bored and will go for their own blood, like the spiders at the end of the Lost in Space movie remake attacked their mommy spider monster. And I kept reminding FRers, "We are talking about McCain, not Reagan""
