The media’s use of the sad tale that these people have “lost their houses” is so blatantly misleading that it makes me sick. Most of these people have less than 5% equity in these houses. They never owned them; they were renting the houses and the mortgage company’s money.

I was thinking the same thing. They were never "their" houses. In some cases they even obtained 125% loans.

Furthermore, the apologists like Baca imply that it's the "sky high" fees that caused the foreclosures, further implying that if the "home owner's" monthly payment was, let's say, $2,100 per month instead of $2,200 all payments would've been made on time and there would be no foreclosures.

I don't think so.
