Good Malkin post...

Before October 2005, few knew how widely their complaints were shared. Then, Shirley Dempsey, president of the homeowners association, said she began having a series of dreams that she said were religious visions, leading her to discover problems in her house and others.

Dreams of dollars apparently.

cockroaches are generally brought in to a dwelling by some means. Usually from a former residence. They are like lice and other parasites, they don’t come in from the wild. So I would say no, they aren’t taking care of thief homes.

Yup.

I know this isn’t news to anyone that lives in FL, but as someone that did live in Jacksonville FL for 5 years, I’m here to tell you that mildew, insects and shifting ground ain’t unusual. FL is wet and fertile ground for insects/wildlife. If you don’t expend any effort to keep your house ‘up’, you’re going to have problems like the above. Ants, roaches, termites, spiders and yes, mildew are omnipresent.

It’s time to just move. Hand the keys over to people who will appreciate and maintain the home and send the current occupants back to the projects.

You must be a Yankee. Palmetto bugs are the Florida State Mascot. They’re everywhere.

Cockroaches can be tough to control, whether one is clean or not; especially if the house is located in or adjacent to a woodland area. That said, they can be controlled by pest control and cleanliness.

I like the quote on your profile page. Mr. Jefferson would be sickened by our current situation. I know, I know, these are different times and the constitution is a living document (/barf)

You are absolutely correct about HFH, I live less than 50 Miles from this neighborhood and the HFN in my community helps many with very well built housing. I know alot of the work is done by volunteers that are not necessarily qualified to do the work that they are doing on these homes, so the burden is placed on the "government inspectors" to make sure the house is habitable, just the word "government inspectors" is "nuff said".

Before we throw Carter under the bus I need to pictures. This might be a 50/50 situation. Poorly built houses with deadbeat residents...

I’m always in favor of throwing Jimmy under the bus but I was wondering the same thing. The houses may be crap but how well maintained are they? The people that get them are not anymore likely to care about their upkeep than they were about the section eight apartments they lived in before Jimmy built them a new place to abuse.
