When my wife was pregnant with my daughter the doctor identified choroid plexus cysts during the ultra sound and said that there would be a good chance that the baby would have a syndrome similar to Downs called Edwards Syndrome. We went in for the more sophisticated ultra sound and a possible heart problem was also discovered.

The technician who did our second ultra sound said that another woman had the cysts on two pregnancies and each time aborted to avoid having a child with Edwards Syndrome. The technician went on to say that when the same lady had a third pregnancy and cysts were discovered again she decided to go ahead and have the baby and the baby was fine.

I should also point out the the ultra sound technician said our daughter would have a long narrow face. Our daughter’s face is short and round and she is perfect in every way.

Tim Tebow, QB of the Florida Gators, was born under similar circumstances. Mrs. Tebow, who is now a Christian missionary, was warned by 3 doctors to abort Tim due to a genetic abnormality they insisted would prove fatal.

My son was supposed to be a downe syndrome girl - he turned out to be a perfect little boy.

These stories out of the UK are getting more and more common... the socialists running the medical system go so far to try to prevent a drain on the financial state of the system by pushing abortion if there is ANY suspicion that the baby won’t be born completely healthy and without expensive defects.

Sick....

What an absolute cutie-pie!! I’m so glad these folks had the strength to resist the pressure of the medical folks, who should seriously re-think the accuracy of their tests.

Having read many of the posts here of others having been told similar things and aborting the doctor’s wishes, do they get kickbacks from the abortionists? or do they do the abortion? I was wondering if it would be wise to get these people together and form a coalition for life and warn others to save their baby’s life! These posts are too much of a pattern.

With our first child and in the second trimester, the midwife pulled my wife aside and began breaking down some of the possibilities of birth defects and tests that a woman could take, when I overheard what she was saying I told her that we wouldn't need any tests.

She looked at my wife and told her that I had had no say in the matter and that she was free to decide as she wished.

My wife stared her down cold and grabbed my hand and told the woman that I was her husband and we would make all decisions together and that we would do nothing to terminate the pregnancy, so the whole point of the testing was irrelevant.

The midwife didn't have a whole lot to say after this.

Our boy turned out just fine.

It is a disgrace that so many of these people are involved in industries that impact life.

“form a coalition for life”

That is probably a good idea. I wonder if there may already be something in place. I relate my own personal story to young couples with some frequency, not because it's fun to tell them but as a warning.

I don't know what ratio of these pregnancies turn into real numbers (real abortions vs healthy births). I plan to be at the March for Life in 2 weeks. I am certain that I will see some people who already have organizations in place who might have suggestions.

First line of defense is to teach your own children about such subversion in the medical industry.

I have a very good friend and his wife who were pretty far along in their pregnancy when they were told that the birth would kill the mother. I don't know all the medical details surrounding this story.

My friend, who is now a devout Christian, panicked and convinced his wife to listen to the doctors and they chose to terminate the baby.

In retrospect ~ he was in his mid 20s ~ and said that he felt coerced. He was tortured by having made this decision for years, but that he finally came to terms with it and knew that God had forgiven him. He also mentioned that his wife remains troubled by the decision and that this sometimes causes problems in their marriage nearly 16 years after the fact.

They now have 3 healthy children.

Ugh! Those poor people.

In our situation our ultrasound technicians were very “everything is going to be fine” your baby looks great ~ all of the conjecture is inconclusive ~ try not to worry about it.

The midwives were the ones who would come up with all the horror stories and they related their anecdotes with a great deal of certitude and a fair amount of arrogance; they knew for sure!

In his office I remember things moving extremely fast and feeling like all our decisions were being made for us

I know the feeling. It was not a pregnancy issue but I felt I was being shuttled along on the train and I hadn't even been given the chance to go home and talk to my husband! Finally I just said hold your horses I'm going home to think before submitting to invasive testing.
