Am I the only one on here who believes that as things get worse, people, cities and states will start taking things into their own hands?

I agree and will go against conventional wisdom here.

The “problems” will go away as quickly and as mysteriously as they arose.

From the look of the crowd at the gun show today (and in every shop I've been in since the election) NO! I cannot believe these crowds are solely due to Obama winning. The Clinton wins didn't produce such a gun-buying frenzy. Even guns not believed to be banned are out of stock and common ammo is flying off the shelves as well. The populace is arming.

Good idea. Some extra of everything needed would be good. If only I had about $20K extra plus the room to store it all!

Perhaps we need to start of list of items and prioritize them. But I’ll bet the survivalist forums have already done this. I just stick to FR these days and maybe look at a silver/gold forum every few months.

Well, though I do support being prepared, I’m more referring to people forming their own communities, like what happens in EFAD: The Reconquista and in William Johnstone’s Ashes series.

I imagine that’ll be the inevitable next step. I’m just sorry I’m in Mexifornia and surrounded by libs. Some communities will fare better than others.

No, you’re not.

I also expect BATF to become out of control when it comes to firearms.

“Obama cannot begin to live up to the hype about his election. The people were sold on his fuzzy promises of change”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hold it right there, I say hold it right there, boy! Obama’s promises were not all that fuzzy, I watched his acceptance speech and he very clearly promised that he would defeat poverty, disease and climate change. Nothin’ fuzzy about that, no sir! So if we see a kid with sniffles, a family looking poor or a strange quirk in the weather, we should all start screaming about the, “failed policies” of the Obama administration. He should be able to deliver on his UNfuzzy promises.
Al Gore can find another line of work now, the messiah says ain’t gon’ be no mo’ climate change.

“This whole thing is like Alice in Wonderland.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I understand the thought, I have said the same myself a number of times but now I am thinking it is far worse. I can draw some lessons from Alice in Wonderland but I can not make heads or tails of the current situation, it really seems to be national madness. Alice in Wonderland is a sane man’s concept of a mad world, this is a mad world that no sane person could ever have imagined. If someone thirty years ago or even thirty months ago had prophesied exactly what is going on now he would have been met with howls of laughter. Nobody would have believed it possible.
Yet, in the face of all this we (myself included) make predictions of what will happen next. Are we all mad?

I dunno. Texas isn’t what she used to be. We lived there for a short time and at least in Corpus Christi and San Antonio, illegals and anchors were all over, almost as bad as Mexifornia. I think any border state will have a lot of mob and gang violence due to all the 3rd world invaders in them. I sure wish I was in the hills of West Virginia or Idaho (if I could stand the winters). I’m hoping we’ll move before the worst of it starts.

You are probably in a good spot. Especially if you’re in a rural area. (Plus, it’s really pretty there, isn’t it?)

Of course, things will be much worse.

This wave of foreclosures not yet over. Another wave of housing foreclosures coming - not to peak until 2010! Commercial real estate foreclosures coming Credit card defaults increasing dramatically in next couple of years Auto industry and attending industry jobs probably lost Higher unemployment More bank failings Derivatives market doing God knows what :( And on and on and on and on

the gloom and doom are rat produced....just today the business people on cnn were telling us that we should be investing in stocks and mutual funds because the worst is over....

I'd like to invest in my 401 and roth but can anyone assure me that it won't be confiscated like in Argentina?

I've told my hubby to buy a couple extra chain saw belts or what ever they are called, and also anything that might need to be changed on the snow blower or the 4 wheeler, rototiller etc...

I handle the food part of it....the paper goods, the rice, the canned soup, the #10 size of tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes,etc...tuna,canned clam, since we love clam chowder, dry instant milk and dry instant mashed potatoes...etc...

also....he'll handle the lead....

since about May this year, I’ve been telling people to stock up...

Done, done, and done.

However, I think your "90 day's worth" is way too optomistic.

Now, how do we go about that....

I wouldn’t know where to begin....maybe someone will step in......it could be an ongoing thread.....just as relevant to FR as the food threads and the racing threads and the football threads and the Oscar threads, just more important.

Yes, it could be much more important. I’d rather be prepared - and have nothing come of it - than not be prepared and need to be.

BTW, what’s a food thread?
