“Our military’s victory is an opportunity to damage the anti-american left.”

But that that were so. As the USA achieved success in Iraq, the MSM stopped its coverage. Very few undertand or apprecite the great progress that has occurred in Iraq. Unfortunately.

We owe it to our troops to expose and shame those who hoped for their failure and even their deaths.

Amen to that. Obama is at the top of the list.

History has proven repeatedly that once a certain level of prosperity is reached, a society becomes more interested in economic activity than destabilizing violence, and the general public will unite to combat elements that are bad for business. This is the key. All long lasting great empires are about maintaining the free flow of ideas, labor, and material at market prices. Stability results because anything less than free flow is bad for business. Too bad there's a typo in this otherwise excellent piece. C2K

Won in 2008, only to lose in 2013, or 2033 or... See Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon, etc. We may have given the enlightened among the Iraqis time to share a moment, but, as Paul Harvey has said, the backward, tribal, Muslim Arab is neither ready for nor capable of a sustained, modern, free, elected government. The terrorist attackers of September 11th used that which their culture could never have invented to destroy that which their culture could never have built. Somewhat similarly, the Iraqis have received a gift of freedom that they did not really want and will not be able to properly care for. Democracy in Iraq has the life expectancy of a divorced guy’s houseplants.
