Forgive me, but I earnestly hope not.
The knock on both Romney (whom I supported) and Huckabee is that neither could defeat McCain -- a palpably weak candidate.
Think of it this way: If they couldn't beat McCain, how were they going to beat the Democrat nominee?
I would say that either men would not have been so meek to go after Obama, his past associations, and his record (or lack of it).
McCain got the nomination due to independents and Dem crossovers. If we close the primaries we will get a very different candidate next time around.
At least that is what the MSM wanted us to believe.
It wasn’t about “beating” McCain. Anyone who seriously thinks we pick our candidates any more is quite naive. Obama was “destined” to be the next POTUS. How else could someone raised Muslim, born who-knows-where, who it can be proven held indonesian citizenship (and actually traveled until relatively recently on an Indonesian passport), who has close friends who are known terrorists, and who comes out of the most politically corrupt machine in the country... could be “elected” president?
