The leftists hate it, but it was a Democrat controlled Oregon legislature that passed our shall issue and preemption laws, and several other reforms, before even Texas and Florida.
They do not prohibit carry in bars, schools, college campii, or any of the other odd places prohibited in many other states. And really what good reason is there for such prohibitions?
They have tried a couple times (and will no doubt try again this upcoming session) to enact a school ban, but it doesn't have broad support, even with one of those infamous school massacres in our history. This year we will have a bigger challenge if it comes up, with both houses under solid Democrat control for the first time in 16 years, but we have a couple good statewide gun rights PAOs and a fair number of Democrats who support RKBA.
It passed in PA thanks to the support of both Dems and Central/Western PA GOPers. The only opposition came from metro Philly.
It will be much more difficult to get through NY thanks to the Sullivan Laws, and impossible in NJ thanks to the urban locusts and the VERY powerful police union in this state.
Experts and The media tell us to have a fire extinguisher in the house in case there is a fire (though the chances are very slim).
Experts and The media tell us to have several smoke alarms and to change the batteries every 6 months in case there is a fire (though the chances are very slim).
Experts and The media tell us to prepare for retirement by having a 401k.
Experts and the media tell us to prepare for every eventuality except the most important of them all- your very life. In this case, they tell us that we shouldn’t fight back and we should wait for the cops. Anyone see the story recently about the girl who died while waiting 48 minutes for 911?
Makes. No. Sense.
