This is how the whole thing started.
David Ehrenstein, a writer who happens to be black and liberal, wrote an opinion piece in March 2007 in the Los Angeles Times called "Obama the 'Magic Negro.'"
He argued that whites, according to sociologists, stereotype blacks as "dangerous." But whites consider Obama accessible, likeable and "benign." This, according to Ehrenstein, explains Obama's "crossover" appeal.
The article insults a) Obama, by virtually ignoring his effectiveness as a candidate, b) whites, by accusing them of voting for Obama merely to assuage their own guilt, and c) Sidney Poitier, the brilliant, groundbreaking actor, for ascribing his success to whites who find him safe and non-threatening.
The article produced virtually no outcry.
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh then aired a song parody --set to the music of "Puff the Magic Dragon" -- called "Barack the Magic Negro." Referring to the L.A. Times article, an Al Sharpton-like "singer" called Obama inauthentically black. Why, complained the singer, should white folks vote for Obama rather than a true black man "from the hood" like -- me.

>>Please Larry - the GOP does not have a sterling record on race either.<<
That statement is has no basis in fact. The GOP, since its founding, has done more FOR the blacks thant he RATs, who have only done things TO the blacks.
You might want to read up on Rev. Wayne Perryman’s class action suit against the RATs for the crimes committed against blacks.

The song is perfectly accurate as OSAMABAMA is considered and tried to portray himself as the “magic” “messiah” who will “change the world” AND furthermore he used the race(black/”negro”) card outrageously(reference to M.L.King,huge support from the black community,Michelle Obama pretending she was proud for the first time, strong links with black activists ...)while pretending he was standing beyond races(calling for white voters!).
It could be called The Magic/croock negro
I love Michael Clarke Duncan and thought “The Green Mile” was somewhat of a Christian allegory.
I first heard this parody on Rush a year ago.
The lame-stream media is certainly on top of things.
Meanwhile, the lefties can call George W. Bush Hitler, shrub, chimp, write novels about his “assassination”, make movies about the same outrageous subject, and no one on the left complains about these tasteless displays.
If Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Booker T. Washington and WEB Dubois use the term, can it really be offensive?
School vouchers, marriage: the Democrats destroy both, and them accuse the Republicans of racial insensitivity. With friends like the Dems, who needs enemies?
“I fail to see why this has suddenly become an issue. Rush has been playing the song for months.”
Two words...Fairness Doctrine.
Some people may have forgot about this, but it hasn’t gone away. This is just a trial balloon to see what can cause a public outcry against talk radio. As soon as something sticks, they we must bring back the FD in order to stop the hate speech.
No, they just fought and died for the freedom of the slaves, and virtually every racial rights provision since.
It really proves that the Republican leadership does not listen to what is happening outside the beltway. Their go along to get along attitude diminishes our freedoms and economic well being. You never see a compromise on cutting spending only on cutting the growth of spending, like, that is a real spending cut. Every compromise with the Bolshies is a loss.
If they can imply that Rush is broadcasting “racist” songs then they can say....he needs to be shut up. It is the same play book they used to set up Imus. Do you think it was a coincidence that they did this while Rush was on vacation and could not defend himself.
And let's not forget about what happened to Eisenhower's Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960.
I think there are too many Republicans who prefer that party be weaker for whatever reason, and they will find ways to sabotage the party. Coversely, I think there are too many Democrats who prefer that country be weaker for whatever reason, and they will find ways to sabotage the country.
Negro is not a racial epithet and Obama isnt even very negroid anyway.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
No it is not a racial epithet any more than Caucasian is but you can’t expect the race obsessed numbskulls to process that. If Dr. Jack Wheeler is correct Obama is no more than one sixteenth Negro and therefore should be considered Caucasian. I suspect Obama’s only true claim to being “African-American” is that he was born in Kenya which he denies. Of course anyone saying such things is branded by the media as a right wing kook worthy of the KKK...which oddly enough was limited to Democrats almost exclusively. There really is almost no market for reality in the media today.
First the educated will "know" that the Demoncrats opposed the 13th, 14th & 15th Amendments.
So if someone like Sean Hannity where to take the next step as a "fact driven person" who educates the masses and uses the FACTS against the venom spitters....
He should put togther a bumper sticker along the lines of:
or this one which the idiot Democrats would think is a slam to Republicans.....
What we would bring about is a "stick in the eye" to the woefully ignorant people who will eventually "google" the 13th, 14th & 15th admendment facts"
Why is it we have facts and THEIR words and we aren't smart enough to SPIKE this info back into their face?
I will bet you...if Sean Hannity were to produce bumper stickers...advertise them at $5.00 each (and contribute to a charity - whatever)...and they start to appear on cars across America...the news will eventually get around to reporting the facts...people will "google" it.
Let the voices of "Fairness" stoke the discussion. How could "talking about history" as FACTS be disputed as something that has to have an equal voice to debate?
WHAT we would have to have a LIBERAL voice to "defend" the DEMOCRAT racist history?
I would have a "series" of similar bumper stickers...laced with ironic facts and USE IT.
Just as Rush did...he took a LIBERAL black man's words and have effectively used it as a 100 mph SPIKE in their face.
GOOD going Rush!
Other ideas for bumper stickers:
Oh contrair, the other night FNC had Larry Elder and that “PhD, brotha” (you know this guy, he's rightfully earned a PhD just like my dog) on and the brotha said calling nobama a negro was racist.
The personna-non-grata list is growing awaiting activation when Red State Separation starts.
No, what she said was "yew know wut ah'm tawkin bout." which was the most stunningly pandering locution I've ever heard from a politician, and that's saying something.
His stories frequently have a benevolent and supernatural black character who steps in among the nasty, ugly, evil, guilty white characters. "Shining" etc.
It's a variation on "noble savage" in James Fennimore Cooper's novels, "Last of the Mohicans" etc.
I really have to say that I'm disappointed in Newt for jumping on the PC bandwagon and his FAKE outrage.
