Sarah Palin on The Hour New Year's Eve Special (CBC)11 p.m. EST

George Stroumboulopoulos is the biggest faux hip poseur ever to grace Canadian airwaves.

Guaranteed to recycle all the old cliches from American campaign coverage because he's too vapid to think of original and incisive questions on his own.

He is probably the most shallow and blinkered of CBC hosts. And that's saying something.

Sarah should have no problem running rings around him.

What a heck of a time to air it though.

I wonder why she chose to talk to this particular guy, I read that this might have something to do with the pipeline. What time will it air here(california) I would really love to see it. Also someone told me that this guy doesn’t like Sarah, is that true?

CBC makes the American networks look like GOP mouthpieces by comparison. Strombo will put on his best sneering Gen X cynic hipster pose, as he always does for those slightly right of Barack Obama.

But Sarah can handle this jumped-up DJ with ease.

I made a boo boo last saturday when I heard advertisements for this show during the NHL Networks pick up of the hockey doubleeader that they get off of CBC and I thought the interview would be during last saturdays hockey game. Tonight USA is playing Canada in the World Hockey Junior Championships. Maybe Sarah will get to brag about or should I say aboot a USA victory.

“CBC makes the American networks look like GOP mouthpieces by comparison.”

We drove our Motor Home to Alaska and back 2 years ago. We actually spent as much time in Canada as Alaska. Some comments-

1) If I had to watch Canadian TV I would take my .38 and put it under my chin and...

2) The eastern Canucks hate/fear GWB more than US libs.

3) Western Canucks are almost US states.

4) The only TV show I could gag down was a ?cooking? show featuring a tall, rather pretty woman and a short oriental gay guy with a terrible toupee. He was unabashed of his sexual status and both together were funny. She was pregnant BUT NOT BY HIM, I BET.

Anyway, no wonder our friends to the north are so anti US, they are fed a steady stream of lies/BS from their media.

Wow... I happen to be an American and I have to say this is not only a lot of crap but is flat out racism. This kind of jingoism only increases other countries to see us as the usual stereotypical swaggering, not too sharp loud mouths.
I’ve been to Canada many times and spent a lot of time there.
There’s really very little difference between our two countries. It’s modern, beautiful and generally very safe.
All this talk about their backward media is just ridiculous.
Well at least we have Fox News and American Idol and rest of the endless drivel. I wouldn’t talk like we’re the shining beacon for media or journalism.

This kind of discussion is just low IQ, stupid and unhealthy.

Did anybody see the interview?

Just sought refuge from my liberal spouse program, yet another Star Trek re-run. Yep, a rainy cool July 6th evening up in Northern Ontario. On came the Stromboulopolis himself. Then the good woman, Sarah Palin herself. First of all, before posting here, I got remarks on a bloggers website. The site that linked the interview. It was from Alaska of all places. The snide remarks about Sarah and her rote like delivery. Just determined to put her down.

I could hardly believe my eyes. There was Stromboulopolis acting in a professional and proper manner. Governor Palin appeared to be quite interested in making her views and presence known. I promise, though an admirer of Sarah Palin, I did not let that colour my assessment of her here.

The program is called "The Hour". True, the CBC young men come off as flippant, nimcompoops, seemingly groomed to that style. Not this time. If only Sarah was able to do this kind of interview on American television insteady of the "old fogey granny glassed" Gibson; and the "arch feline clawed" Couric. Sure the ticket was doomed because gentleman John, really did not want the presidency (imho). She would have got vastly better marks.

Full marks to the Governor and indeed to Stromboulopolis. He did make a silly remark after Sarah left though. Had to placate his bosses, I dare say.

I've been to Canada many times and spent a lot of time there.

I thought I was the late poster and then I caught your post six months after the last one. I am able to clarify things to some extent. From time to time the two main television networks in Canada have run somewhat biased against the George Bush years. They can get very snide. Perhaps that is what our other American friends saw and heard. I want to break the television screen myself sometimes (laughs).

To rub things in, they went absolutely overboard for your now President. This in the Presidential campaign. Some Canadians were absolutely miffed on our tax payer dollars at work. The Canadian women broadcasters were the main ones, cooing over Valentino....er Obama. (jealousy here). Thought they were in love for a few moments. That being said, Canadian television carries much American content. Especially entertainment shows.

You are right in your rebuttal, because and this includes the CBC "Canadians". You will not find them in the local Tim Hortons coffee shop. Where I am, the locals go out of their way to be polite to Americans. (Border towns). I daresay that the Americans in , say Steinfelt, are not like real New Yorkers. Canadians not like the elite CBC "Canadianists".

Trying to mend fences here. At least I feel better for it. (Chuckle).
