Take one part Norman Rockwell, add a dash of glitz and presto ...
It's the perfect Beef Bowl recipe.
A tradition for 53 years (older than 30 of the 34 actual bowl games), Lawry's hosts each of the Rose Bowl teams on consecutive nights for a pregame feast of prime rib, salad, mashed potatoes, creamed corn and apple pie. Cameras flash and video crews pass around mikes. The last two years, Illinois and Penn State players have come into the legendary Beverly Hills restaurant with their eyes as wide as the giant slabs of meat.

1 thing i learned long ago
never let Jopa plan against u
Best prime rib ever -- especially the "Diamond Jim Brady" cut.
And I’ll take one to go, also.
That picture is sheer evil - and beautiful. (drool!)
I ate there once, as the guest of a millionaire. It was news to me that there was a restaurant behind “Lawry’s Seasoned Salt.”
I actually ate there once, on a date, more than 30 years ago. Mmmm.
Hold the side dishes, but give me extra salad with that prime rib. I just ate, and that picture is making me hungry again! Prime red, rare meat! How Neanderthal... and how wonderful!
Steak or the date? Both?
It’s only sporting to allow the Trojans a good meal before the Nittany Lions devour them.
N - I - double T - A - N - Y... ROAR, LIONS, ROAR!
USC by three TDs.
Penn State by 3 - 4 points. The mighty Nittany Lion crowd will make the difference. We’re so loyal we’ll travel cross country to outnumber Trojan fans in their own backyard. Never, never bet against JoePa in a bowl game. That’s the definition of money wasted.
Well, the relationship essentially went nowhere. But it was certainly a great steak! :)
I only dined at Lowry’s once but as I remember, they brought out a huge cart. You told the waiter how you wanted your prime cooked and he brought out a whole rib from the cart. He laid the knife on the rib and stated the price. If you wanted thicker, he moved the knife and stated the new price until you were satisfied. BTW, only one thing on the menu. Prime rib. Excellent.
Yep,
LaCieneca Blvd. Mighty fine as is their place in Vegas.
Mighty fine grub.
Better than Ruth Chris or Mortons.
MMM Looks real good, but based on my experience with many college football players, they would NOT eat it! Too rare!!! Most of these kids would NOT eat beef this rare.
Go figure.....
There is a place that will do that in Vienna, VA. It is next to the Key Bridge that goes into DC. Many of us Freepers have gone there after a Freep in DC. BY@W, bring lots of $$$. It’s not cheap.
