The breakup of the U.S. (WorldnetDaily's Joseph Farah takes Russian prediction seriously)
WorldnetDaily ^ | Dec 30,2008 | Joseph Farah

In 1990, few were predicting the breakup of the Soviet Union.

But it came – only a year later.

With 2009 set to begin in a few days, there is someone predicting the breakup of the United States – a year from now.

His name is Igor Panarin, a former KGB analyst and dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry's school for foreign diplomats – in other words, a serious fellow.

For him, it's nothing new. He's been making the same prediction for last 10 years. But, until recently, no one took him seriously. And then came the economic calamity that has rocked Americans and the rest of the world, too. Now, Panarin's predictions of an end of the United States, due to economic and moral collapse, is being taken seriously by many.

Panarin blames out-of-control mass immigration, economic decline and moral degradation for what he believes could be a civil war as early as next fall and a total collapse of the dollar. By June or July of 2010, he sees the U.S. breaking into six pieces.

Now, I'm not buying into Panarin's entire prediction. But I do think there's something to it.

I've been talking about this possibility more and more in recent years. I don't see how this house of cards we're building can possibly withstand the next significant windstorm. The political ties no longer bind. Only inertia and the threat of force hold us together.

The economic crisis is clearly visible to all – but all the wrong buttons are being pushed. In fact, the same people who got us into this mess are digging a deeper hole for all of us to climb out of.

The other two crises he points to have scarcely even been recognized by many people – out-of-control immigration and moral rot.

The the problem isn’t with the nation. The problem is with government and the cities. It would be foolish to destroy the greatest nation on the face of the planet because of a couple of problem areas.

The only realistic potential for this to happen would be a series of catastrophes. Two very potent ones on the horizon are a major economic collapse followed by the Avian flu, not just killing millions of Americans, but wiping out vast numbers of our domestic animals.

Another possibility is of a major civil war in Mexico, with millions of refugees heading north to escape the violence, and maybe bringing some of the violence with them.

Then there are natural disasters as well, such as major earthquakes in California or along the New Madrid fault, a super tidal wave wiping out much of the East or West coasts, a major US volcanic eruption, or things like that.

Russians tend to have a very distorted view of America, however, with many thinking we are evenly divided between Al Capone style gangsters and cowboys and Indians. American blacks are imagined to mostly be living in Haitian style poverty in the South.

I have no idea how he imagines the US will break up.

What has WND ever been wrong about?

You’re just trashing conservatives on a conservative site. What’s the point of that?

FR even has a link to WND here: http://www.freerepublic.com/home.htm.

Do you think FR is bad, too?

Actually, you have it backwards — the Blue states regularly support the Red States. New York, of instance, regularly gets back about 75 cents for every dollar it sends to Washington. Alabama gets back about $1.25.

I wonder if that is still going to be true after all the trillions in bailouts are handed out to the NYS and Cali financials.

No, the money going to the Fed through the IRS will dry up. The contributions will drop to something approaching parity — a dollar in for a dollar out. This will be hugely destructive to the dependent states unless something is done.

Yep, not only that, there was an officer shot trying to break up a fight at a gas station.

All kinds of weird stuff. The whole Houston area looked like a war zone for a few days after the hurricane.

Total darkness, long long lines at gas stations and super markets.

The only big difference between New Orleans and Houston, if your caught lootin, you probably wouldn't survive.

I agree succession is out of the question. This was settled in 1865. Only a moron would support succession. We have our differences, but we are all Americans.

Really? You post on all the Obammy, Hillary, Clinton,Pelosi, Blago threads about what good Americans they are? They belong to the same American ideals that you and I belong to. Not here. You might be a whole lot more accepting of the left than I am, and want to assimilate just to keep the union together but I won't go that route. These people don't belong to my country. They want another country which isn't what we know as our country.

Look, we just lost an election. Unfortunately this means the winners get their way for a time. The GOP can stand for their beliefs-so called loyal opposition. However, our time will come again. All this talk about secession is just nuts-it won’t happen and should not happen.

In my opinion we lost because we were voting for nonsense and name recognition over substance just like the democrats. We had a 50/50 chance of winning and lost.

All I know is that I won’t let the nation break up without a fight. Secession is cowardice.

Yeah, much better to let a socialist coup bleed the resources of you and your neighbors to keep other states enslaved. /sarc

The causes: Unconstitutional usurpation of office, authority, property, and morality.

I have never posted any such thing. I am a Republican and voted for and worked for McCain. What I have said is that we should set our sights on winning hearts and minds of voters in order to win future elections.

You may not consider Democrats Americans, but they are...wish there were a few more Republicans. We might have Pres. John McCain. However, what you are talking about is treason. You will get locked up so fast your head will spin. Our country is bigger than Reid, Obama and Pelosi. We will survive the next four (hopefully not eight years) and come back strong.

In general New York generates a huge amount of taxes far more than most states...so that’s ridiculous.

A huge amount of taxes for who? This benefits me here in SC how? I'd like to see the charts and data that make my "statement ridiculous", in your words. I'm sure you researched this in depth before posting and have links to the data that support your claim so that the rest of us can believe too.

Well you have the right to vote third party. I have considered this myself. Succession is still not an option. I mean no disrespect, but only seriously delusional people would consider such a thing.

But what if there were one place – one state – that attracted people from all over the United States to come live in freedom?

I'm thinking Texas and then we could expand out from there to encompass surrounding areas and kick out libs as we go.

You don’t think Pres. McCain would be better than Pres. Obama?
