I recall a recruit who tried to commit suicide by cutting his wrists with a razor. Drill Sargeant took him apart after he was released from the hospital.
DI: Where have you been?
Recruit: I tried to commit suicide
DI: Then why ain’t you dead?
He actually made it through basic and shaped up pretty well.

Shouldn’t that be ‘SIR, I TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE, SIR’?
