EXCLUSIVE: RNC draft rips Bush's bailouts
The Washington Times ^ | December 30, 2008 | Ralph Z. Hallow

In what would amount to a slap in the face to a sitting Republican president and the party's Senate and House leaders, national GOP officials, including the vice chairman of the Republican National Committee, are sponsoring a resolution opposing the resort to "socialist" means to save capitalism.

"We can't be a party of small government, free markets and low taxes while supporting bailouts and nationalizing industries, which lead to big government, socialism and high taxes at the expense of individual liberty and freedoms," said Solomon Yue, a cosponsor of a resolution that would put the RNC -- the party's national governing body -- on the record as opposing the U.S. government bailouts of the financial and auto industries.

(snip)

The RNC revolutionaries leave no doubt they mean to turn the committee into policy-producing and enforcing machine.

"In the long-run, we want to see this committee play an active philosophical-policy leadership role for the national GOP," Mr. Yue said.

If you read the entire article, you will probably not be surprised to find that the RINOs in DC are irritated and dumbfounded about this Conservative "revolution" from below, which is about six years overdue.

Wow! I wish I could feel confident that this effort will be fruitful. It’s encouraging though from the standpoint that it’s great to know there ARE people in the GOP that know what’s what.

This is exactly the kind of approach that could be crafted to get widespread support from the voters. It’s not enough to tell them what you plan to do, but you have to also tell them how it will benefit them. The trick is to get enough producers buying into supporting the benefits to outweigh the takers who turned out in droves in the last election.

Somewhere, somehow there’s simply GOT to be someone who can put together a campaign effort similar to the Contract with America that was as successful as anything the GOP has ever done.

I’m convinced we’re at the fork in the road.

Strong stuff from the RNC.

O winning could be the slap in the face this party needed to get back on the right track.

Failing to do so, we have today's identity crisis, which resulted in our losses in 2006 and 2008," Mr. Yue said. "The bailout is a good example ... In my view, if we are not going to address this, we will see more losses in 2010."

"It is time the party gets involved in policy issues and forces candidates to respond to the platform," Mr. Emineth said. "Frankly the way we view the platform is a joke. We work hard to drive our principles into the platform, then candidates ignore it."

This is huge and is exactly what Gov. Palin was talking about in her interview with Fred Barnes back in Oct. when she said:

"I would love to promote the party ideals if we're going to live out the ideals and maybe allow other American voters to understand what the principles of the party are,.....We've got to be assured we have enough people in the party who will live out those ideals and it's not just rhetoric. Otherwise, I'd be wasting my time. There are a lot of things I would and should be doing."
Sounds like some in the RNC are starting to get it. VERY encouraging.

I like the direction the RNC wants to go in, it is at least a start in taking the party back from the go along RINOs. This is the way to be heard, from the bottom up not from the elitists top down

Finally, some leadership. This is what's needed, principled leadership that doesn't try to be bipartisan. Time for stark contrast not David Brooks "we've got to be more like them" alignment.

Listen, the Dem's learned this a long time ago, don't try to be bipartisan; and believe me, having worked up on the "Hill", there's NOTHING bipartisan about the Dem's. No, they lie and deceive with their rhetoric but in the end, they stand on their principles (MASSIVE GOVERNMENT) and have been winning ever since by promising everything to every special interest that supports their agenda.

We as conservatives cannot promise everything to everyone and must begin to draw sharp and distinct lines between us and them. Even if it means criticizing one of our own and without hesitation, I state that Bush has been a disaster on domestic policy. So much for compassionate conservatism (10 TRILLION in debt now).

Better get ready for a fight, looks like one is coming...finally.

The RINOs will roll. The real conservatives won't.

The best strategy would be to treat O with courtesy (at least initially) and go at the principles behind his positions tooth and nail.

“Dumb America” isn't going to spontaneously fall out of love with O, and if conservatives treat him with disdain and disgust from jump street, it's only going to feed into the MSM’s caricature of conservatives as bunch of mean old men and Sarah Palin. It's only going to make O look sympathetic - why ram your head into that wall?

Drip, drip, drip on the principles in the “off years,” thereby setting up the negative “personal” stuff for when it counts in 2010 and 2012.

Hate to be a party pooper but they are probably looking
at their bank balance. They won’t be able to stay at 5
star hotels any more. Now that it doesn’t matter they
can start talking tuff to try to get some donations.

I don’t think its going to work for them - we haven’t seen
any reforms yet - so its likely 2010 will be worse.
