I suppose you believe that by driving more people away from the Republican party, you think we will win more elections?

We need conservative candidates, conservative philosophy, conservative ideas.

We need 51% of the population. We need to bring people into the party that don’t agree much with us conservatives, in order to win elections.

We shouldn’t confuse our candidates with the electorate. We don’t want squishy moderate candidates, but we need squishy moderate voters.

At least until we manage to educate over half the country about conservative principles.

No.
iirc it was Ronald Maximus who said,

"The Republican Party cannot be all things to all people."

That is Anti Big Tent, Pro sticking by one's principles and what the Republican Party *used* to stand for: P-r-i-n-c-i-p-l-e-s.

Plus, pandering to the lowest common denominator, i.e.: 'special interest groups' to get their vote is borderline prostitution and the Democrats M.O. And that's what Duncan and *moderates* propose - be Democrat Lite. Well *bullsit*, once you abandon your principles there's nothing left.
