I think the “bailouts” are what caused all this. The government rewarded mothers of illegitimate children by paying them government subsidies in the form of welfare and food stamps. The result was a tidal wave of illegitimate children who are being schooled by street gangs. They have no values beyond “me first”.

I think the leftists devised this system on purpose -- force children to grow up in chaotic circumstances, encourage families to break apart, and you end up with generations of damaged people who will be government clients of one sort or another. The left suggests the solution to this problem is more abortions of minority children, dumb-down schools even more, and ban guns.
