I think Israel was complacent—they caught Israel off guard with their preparations and tactics. Even so, Hezbollah had all but collapsed militarily at then end and South Lebanon was in ruins. If this happens again, Israel (should) be much better prepared. And the price of oil is down, so Iran can’t help as much in the rebuilding effort.
