A lawsuit filed by Texas businessman Jeff Hawn alleging that bison owned by Hartsel rancher Monte Downare destroyed his property was dismissed on Dec. 17 after Hawn paid his court-ordered restitution.
The restitution was part of a plea deal in a criminal case against Hawn for his role in the slaughter of 32 of Downare's bison... Hawn agreed to plead guilty to one count of felony criminal mischief and one count of cruelty to animals...
As part of the plea bargain, Hawn was required to pay roughly $83,000 in restitution.
The civil case was put on hold during the criminal case, in which Hawn will be sentenced on Jan. 28.

I’m glad to see it’s costing Hawn some big bucks, he more than deserves to pay. Looks like he and his attorney want to get everything taken care of before he faces that ten days in jail, she must believe that will keep him out but I hope she’s wrong.
Thanks for the ping.
It’s fence out State. If you don’t want any animals” on your property then you have to fence them out. The problem was that the snow was deep enough for the Buffalo to just walk over the fences, on to his property. Still no reason to kill all those mother Buffalo’s with little ones in their bellies. A waste of damn good meat, he and his shooting buddies should have stayed in Texas.
Thanks for the ping!
What will this dirt bag do next?
