Good point. Somehow we’ve got to get a Reaganite conservative majority back in the party. Our RINOs and “me too but not as much” Republicans still have to learn that they’ll never out-pander liberals. Bush and McCain have been good on national defense but it takes more than that. Sold us out and yet got no credit for it, they managed to come off as party for the rich. We need someone conservative and articulate who will stand up to R party when they do things wrong but does not go out and cut secret deals with other side like on Immigration and bailouts. Selling conservative ideals to public, not caving in and getting our side dirty too.
Communication and selling ideas is the key, and SS private accounts wouldnt sell partially because of federal deficit, borrow money from China/Japan to set up savings accounts for thoes that pay no income taxes, and he was willing to raise cap on SS taxes. This was the start of his 2005 disaster.
