SNIPPET: “(IsraelNN.com) Terrorists in Hamas-controlled Gaza escalated attacks against Israel Sunday and fired Russian-made anti-tank missiles for the first time. The missiles exploded in the fields of Kibbutz Alumim, adjacent to the separation fence, and no injuries or damage was reported.”
SNIPPET: “The use of the weapons bears out Israeli intelligence warnings that Hamas has stockpiled advanced arms, including anti-aircraft missiles. The firing of the Russian-made missiles is a sharp escalation from the usual homemade Kassam rockets.
The Western Negev has sustained more than 270 mortar shell and rocket assaults since the end of the Operation Cast Lead counterterrorist campaign, which began nearly a year ago. Several rockets previously have hit Kibbutz Alumim, but virtually all of them have exploded in open fields.”

“Suicide Bomber Stopped Before Jerusalem Attack”

SNIPPET: “(IsraelNN.com) A joint force comprised of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and Border Police apprehended a young Arab man on his way to carry out a suicide bombing in Jerusalem.
The would-be terrorist, 20, was stopped at the Kalandia checkpoint north of Jerusalem at noon, with six pipe bombs strapped to his body.
Initial interrogations revealed the terrorist planned to detonate them in Jerusalem. The man has been arrested, and the bombs detonated under IDF supervision.”
SNIPPET: “Another terror attack on Israeli citizens was prevented this afternoon in the Samarian community of Revava. A terrorist from a neighboring Arab village came to the town, unsheathed a commando knife and attempted to stab local residents. Two residents of Revava fought the Arab until he was neutralized.”

An Arab terrorist stabbed a young Jewish woman in her back late Saturday night and escaped by foot to the direction of the nearby Al Aroob village. A second person had fled before the attacker could strike. The victim was identified as a resident of Karnei Shomron, located several miles east of the northern metropolitan Tel Aviv area...

SNIPPET: “Two Qassam rockets were fired at Israel from the northern Gaza Strip in the early hours of Sunday morning.
One rocket exploded in an open area in the Shaar Hanegev Regional Council. There were no reports of damage or injury. The other rocket fell within the Strip’s territory.
Sunday’s attack may have been in response to the incident in which 50-year-old Palestinian farmer Sami Abu-Hossa was reportedly killed by IDF fire near the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza.
He was evacuated in critical condition to a nearby hospital, where he died of his wounds. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit stated that an IDF patrol had been fired upon, and that soldiers returned fire to the area from which it emerged but had not recognized a hit. No IDF soldiers were injured in the incident.
Earlier the Abu Ali Mustapha Brigades, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine’s military wing, announced that their operatives had fired on an IDF patrol near the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun.”

IDF to hold sirens test in greater Jerusalem area Wednesday

The Home Front Command will conduct an air raid sirens’ test in the greater Jerusalem area Wednesday afternoon.

IDF: Color Red system in Netivot was turned off

IDF sources said that the Color Red alert system in Netivot did not sound ahead of the rocket launch which hit the city earlier, because it was turned off.
The system, added the sources, had been turned off to avoid false alarms. The Color Red system is made active following military intelligence assessments. (Hanan Greenberg)
