NEW YORK Caroline Kennedy emerged from weeks of near-silence Friday about her bid for a Senate seat by saying that after a lifetime of closely guarded privacy, she felt compelled to answer the call to service issued by her father a generation ago.
She said two events shaped her decision to ask Gov. David Paterson 11 days ago to consider her for the position if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is confirmed as secretary of state: the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and her work for Barack Obama's presidential campaign.

“Public Service” could mean many number of things. But of course to Princess Caroline, no feeding the homeless, or any other service. Noooo, we just jump all the way to US Senator. Birthright and all.
Talk about an undeserving heir! I bet many NY Democrats really resent her jumping in.
Go Caroline! You can do it!
I wonder when the last time was, if ever, that she saw the inside of a diner?

Audio ... “you know.”
Oh barf already!
The Princess may actually regard taking a mere $169,000 salary as “public service.” What the MSM are attempting to frame as “privacy,” however, is a cover for the embarrassment of not having uttered a single public statement of substance or acted in any political capacity whatever. How that translates into a Senatorial seat is something I shall let the Democrats explain. It ought to be good for a few laughs.
She has man hands. Her brother got the looks in the family.
Who do N.Y. Democrats kneel down before famous people who want these high elective positions?
Her uncle, Bobby Kennedy, was a carpet bagger who was elected Senator.
Hillary Clinton went on a half baked listening tour to show how much she wanted to learn about upstate New York, and the Democrats pushed aside serious competitors and allowed Her Highness Hillary to run for that office.
Now Caroline Kennedy wants to be a Senator, with no previous record in elective office or public policy matters?
New Yorkers have this reputation for being so rough and tough, but they fawn all over somebody famous who wants to be in politics, and take these shortcuts to the top?????
Caroline is free to run, and has been free to run for office all along. Why in the sam hill does she want to be “selected, not elected”? Why does she rate special treatment that real N.Y. Democrats, who have been in the trenches of politics for years, don’t get that treatment?
Why did Hillary get special treatment?
Why did Bobby Kennedy get special treatment?
“Going into politics is something people have asked me about forever,” a relaxed Kennedy said as she ate a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich and sipped coffee at a diner in Manhattan. “When this opportunity came along, which was sort of unexpected, I thought, `Well, maybe now. How about now?’”
I’m gonna hurl......
The Democrats will have to explain why Caroline is a good Senate candidate.
Heck they had to explain the same about Hillary Clinton, and Hillary was comfortably elected twice. What’s with N.Y. voters? They have a reputation in New York that they are so rough and tough, but they fawn over any celebrity who wants to say they are from New York and represent them.
Buzzard barf on all these disgusting people.
Called to service?? Color me skeptical since her service only seems to have been as director of the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the the New York City Department of Education from 2002 - 2004. (along with some board memberships)
She better watch her calories and cholesterol eating grilled cheese and bacon. Why is she not eating the trendy yuppie food?

To be honest, to be a Democrat Senator, all you have to do is vote the party line 100% of the time, like Barry Whats-his-name did.
Oops! That is one of my staple meals. Maybe 3-4 times a week for breakfast or lunch. You know, maybe I could run for NY senator too! Seems the qualifications aren't that stringent. And I don't even live there, never have, but neither did Hillary.
