Something fishy here. The rest of the Military seems keen on dumping the 5.56. The M249 is 5.56 and I do not get why the Marines are looking at replacing it with another 5.56. I have talked to many Marines who want it to go to 7.62 or one of the newer 6.mm range weapon systems. Seems strange.
