We did over 95% of our Christmas shopping this year on Amazon. We upgraded to a Prime membership and got free 2 day air shipping on everything.
We fought no crowds, no weather, no traffic, no delays, and paid the same prices if not less than if we went out to the local stores. Only one item was delayed, but it was due to FedEx, not Amazon.
Is it really worth the cost to upgrade? I usually just order over $25 and get free shipping and although I don't get 2-day shipping, Amazon is usually pretty good about getting things to me in a timely manner.
I got 2 day shipping (ordered Saturday night, came Tuesday) and they guaranteed it wouldn’t arrive before Monday (the 29th). I didn’t pay any extra for my order.
I did about 50% of all my purchases online, with Amazon my first stop. Looking back, I wish I’d done more shopping online - and that will be my plan for next year. I have many relatives out of town and let me tell you, it’s an attractive deal to have Amazon handle the shipping (free) right to the recipient.
Nope, it’s not giftwrapped, but at least the box has a smiley-face on it!
I’m planning on buying almost everything that is taxed online after the idiot CA legislature increases our sales tax. Out of principle.
I’ve shopped at Amazon a lot in the past anyway - their prices are great and customer service is wonderful. And I don’t have to deal with all the illegals in the stores.
I have been a Costco member from it’s inception. We have their Amex card and the “premium” membership. There are seven costcos within 30 minutes of our house.
Interestingly, I have found myself more and mors shopping Costco online. We got our projector TV there, some patio furniture, and even some headphones.
When we move to Central Kentucky we will probably do virtually all our Costco shopping online, only going to Louisville every couple months for stuff like coffee.
I bought a few books from Amazon back in 2001 but that was it.
