Re: Warren Invitation

Re "Warren invitation" (Letters, Dec. 23):

I am getting tired of hearing gays and left-leaning Democrats refer to anyone who opposes gay marriage as being "homophobic" or even "bigoted." I voted yes on Proposition 8 because I believe marriage is a bond between one man and one woman. For the sake of my children and their children's future I will do everything I can to protect the institution of marriage and family for them. That doesn't make me a bigot or homophobic. That makes me an American exercising my right to vote.

Having the Rev. Rick Warren give the inaugural invocation is a good choice. My only concern is that Warren stays true to his faith and his convictions.

It amazes me how much of a tizzy the Left (and, to a much lesser degree, the Right) has gotten themselves into regarding the Warren invite. Whoever is chosen (no matter what their political affiliation) will simply talk about the challenges we face as a Republic, ask God to help the incoming President, and God bless the United States.

It's really not that big a deal, folks. Chill.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden both oppose gay marriage. So who are the bigots who voted them into office?

You are an ignorant hate-monger so shut up. You have no rights to speak according to the tolerant inclusive left.

and God bless the United States.

I certainly don't see anything unusual when Rick would do that, however Jeremiah Wright might be enough out of character that it would require lightening rods around, and a copper canopy over, the podium. Maybe 0bama was thinking ahead.

I’m not homophobic. “Phobic” implies fear, and I’m not afraid of them, but if they came up with some word that implies disgust, that would fit.

Ok lets settle this once and for all. I’ll be a bigoted homophobe. The homos can be pole-smoking, pansie, nancy-boy, faggoty, pink-team-playing, Sodomites, who are confused about the basics of plumbing.

No, I’m not at all threatened by these immoral creeps. They can call me whatever they want. But it is they, not I, who willingly take it in the ass and call it a good thing.

They get a pass on opposing gay marriage because they also oppose constitutional amendments in the states, and at the federal level, which would define marriage and take it out of the hands of the judges. They will appoint liberal judges to the federal courts who will impose homosexual marriage. So they get a pass because they won’t do anything to stop the courts from imposing homosexual marriage.
