U.S. Military Preparing for Domestic Disturbances

Tuesday, December 23, 2008 1:14 PM

By: Jim Meyers

A new report from the U.S. Army War College discusses the use of American troops to quell civil unrest brought about by a worsening economic crisis.

The report from the War College’s Strategic Studies Institute warns that the U.S. military must prepare for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States” that could be provoked by “unforeseen economic collapse” or “loss of functioning political and legal order.”

Entitled “Known Unknowns: Unconventional ‘Strategic Shocks’ in Defense Strategy Development,” the report was produced by Nathan Freier, a recently retired Army lieutenant colonel who is a professor at the college — the Army’s main training institute for prospective senior officers.

A few years ago there was much talk of frangible ammunition and military operation in urban terrain (MOUT).

I reckon they weren't kidding.

I recall that a few weeks ago someone re-posted a piece that was originally posted last spring - I think - in which it was reported that Congress had been briefed about an upcoming economic catastrophe that might require the mobilization of the U.S. military within our own borders and the imposition of martial law. Am I remembering correctly?

Yes, it was supposedly called the C&R report. Conflict and revolution. The skinny was that our foreign debt was/is so bad that if we renege on that debt owed to others, namely China--that would bring conflict. If our government imposed onerous taxes to pay off that debt, it would bring revolution at home.

we’re heading into tough economic times. recent history in other countries has shown those circumstances to breed civil unrest. our own history has shown civil unrest — the bonus marchers — during such times.

the report is available free online for download. it talks primarily about long shot scenarios. it’s a fascinating document for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that it clearly defines unlikely, but disruptive events. in this respect, it is not unlike the book The Black Swan

Look - I would be pi$$ed if the Army DID NOT have a plan for everything from aliens (lil green guys) landing at Dallas to Godzilla (bio-war effects)and everything in between. But staff pukes at the War College do not set National Policy - and for good reason. Sometimes themilitary can be too good at thinking of all the bad things that MIGHT happen....

Having a plan to start from and putting the (or any) plan into action is light years apart. For one thing the sheer inertia of the military bureaucracy is almost past measuring....

As for the other... That's a personal choice - as where to live and all that. Good luck & check your freepmail.

Get ready to be “quelled”

When I was in the military many years ago instructions were simple on how to quell a riot.

Shoot the people in the front row !

Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

The Russians aren't as dumb as the democrats. The Ruskies aren't 'testing' for weakness on the part of 'a new administration', the Russians are assessing the benefits and consequences of a first-strike knockout that would work for them for years to come.

Lawyers and academics think 'playing hardball' means being the more 'clever party'.

"The report from the War College’s Strategic Studies Institute warns that the U.S. military must prepare for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States” that could be provoked by “unforeseen economic collapse”"

Said "unforseen economic collapse" is neither unforseen nor is it economic.

It's monetary. A coming demonetization of the dollar with a corresponding 10% or so exchange rate into a new currency, meaning 90% or so of value is lost in the exchange.

... and it is well known about. The new currency is in place just waiting for the Treasury Secretary to say when.

He won't say "when" until trillions of new "bailout" dollars have been created out of thin air by the Fed and used by favored corporations and institutions to buy up as many assets as possible.

If I was Benanke with the ability to create trillions of dollars out of thin air, and knew a demonetization of the dollar was coming with an exchange rate to the new currency of about 10%, I'd be printing up dollars by the boatload and handing them out to favored friends so they can buy up every asset in sight.

... which is exactly what we see happening.

Now we know the real purpose for the "bailout" billions ...trillions.

Now we know why they've been reluctant to bail out the big 3 automakers. That problem will be solved via demonetization of the dollar. The big 3 will go under, all the union contracts and commitments will vanish, and they'll be brought back lean, mean, and profitable under the new currency ...of course then owned by the government (nationalized) and non-union.

Now we know why they've been tanking the real estate market the past year or so and getting as many foreclosed homes in the hands of favored friend banks as possible. It's part of the pre-demonetizaion asset grab.

Said homes will be available for sale under the new currency at market value, but people having seen 90% of their wealth and purchasing power disappear overnight won't be able to buy them. They'll be lucky to afford a tent.

... which will lead to this:

"To the extent events like this involve organized violence against local, state, and national authorities ..."

i.e. robbed US citizens descending upon Washington DC looking for blood ...those with the financial means to get there ...which frankly few will have ...few enough at least that about 20,000 troops ringing the capitol complex can repel them.

When you see massive military buildup around DC, you know the time is nigh.

Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma and Rep. Brad Sherman of California disclosed that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson discussed a worst-case scenario as he pushed the Wall Street bailout in September, and said that scenario might even require a declaration of martial law.

I have been wondering what this planned for worst-case scenario might be. There is a reason why the keeper of the economy is hanging onto some of that money.

I with you Allegra... and I am prepared... I was a damned good Boyscout!

I am reminded about that great line in Casablanca, when the German Colonel asked Rick what he would think when the Third Reich entered London... Rick said, “Ask me when you get there”... when asked by another German Officer, what he would think when they entered NY... Rick said, “I think that there are certain places in NY that are not safe for even the Third Reich to enter”. Mississippi ain’t going down without a fight... Louisiana either... so we have a somewhat solid block between us!

Merry Christmas again friend... it is almost here!

Let me tell you this. MSM is the biggest joke ever. They don't report news, the report propaganda. Most of the true news is found on the internet. If I relied on the MSM I would think we were living in a utopia.
Typican response, kill the messenger. I think that would be relevant if the messengers were MSNBC, CBS, NBC, LA Times, NY Times, Olbermann, Matthews and the rest. I have found more truth in you tube videos, obscure news stories on the internet that all the others combined. The MSM tells what they want you to believe. What they are allowed to mention. The bloggers and can report the truth, they don't have to worry about their jobs.
The Obama Odinga issue was buried in the MSM. It is very significant!! All of the fact are true, there are videos, pictures to back it up. The MSM buried it.
You don't like the source, ignore it as I do the MSM most of the time. There are many videos on you tube, many articles from news organizations in Europe that have reported this exact thing.
Do you really think the MSM would report this, even if they thought it was a strong possibility? HELL NO! and cause major panic. I say...... pray this never happens, but it never hurts to be prepared. We could have a bio attack tomorrow and all hell could break lose. I don't like to get caught with my pants down.

The moment the U.S. military and the citizens of this country begin firing upon each other, this country effectively dissolves as a nation. If any forces of the U.S. military begin slaughtering U.S. citizens, they will automatically create an insurgent uprising the likes of which the world has never seen.

One little detail disturbs me. The “worsening economic crisis” doesn’t even qualify as a recession ... or didn’t until they redefined “recession” as something milder than two consecutive quarters of negative growth, for the first time in our country’s history. Why do the crisis lovers feel a need to paint the economy so negatively when its performance doesn’t even meet the classic definition of a recession?
