Tis the season of empty gestures! Inaugural pastor Rick Warren rewrote his website so it no longer says gays are poison to his congregation. In fact a whole long lecture about gays was deleted.
Here's the old content, via AmericaBlog, via Dave Winer, where Warren explains why gays can't join his church:
This was from a website section called "Small Group Questions About Saddleback Church." The above is part of an answer to the question "What does the Bible say about homosexuality?" Also part of the answer, in the original, was a description of homosexuality as "an enormous sin" and a comparison of being gay to being alcoholic.
Another question encouraged people to tithe to the church even while paying off credit card debts. 10 percent! "The Bible is very clear about believers giving the first 10 percent to the Lord."
Now that Warren has become an embarrassment to the president-elect, everything, the whole stupid section, is gone. Trying to visit the page will either get you a database error or redirected here. Because Warren now realizes his gay-bashing is a manifestation of the vile sin of bigotry and intolerance.
Ha ha, just kidding, he's temporarily shunning his true beliefs to be on television in front of the whole world and gain popularity, sort of like an instrument of the devil, or maybe in this case it's God, or just Rahm Emanuel dressed as an angry, demanding, freak-fingered demon, haunting his bedroom.
Rick Warren taking lessons from Zero on how to scrub a website.
Never bought one of his books, ever.
I must wonder if he’ll deliver sermons out of the books of Leviticus, Romans, and on Sodom and Gomorrah (in naming just a few which deal with the subject).
Rick Warren is no Christian though he plays one on TV and every Sunday. He would dance with the devil for popularity and the limelight. IMO Warren is not to be trusted. Trust him like Zero.
YEP!
how tooooolllerant!
Like homosexuals saying they're tolerant?
Giving 10% to the Lord?
Praiseworthy.
Giving 10% to Rick Warren?
Laughable.
Apparently “the Lord” to Rick Warren is Rick Warren.
I presume that this PURIFIES him and makes him one of them.
How friggin shallow.......
Zero is pushing him as the next Billy Graham
...just saying
First off, Warren did not have anything that said ‘gays are not accepted’ here. Whereas, the gay lifestyle is one of sin, we all are sinners. If no sinners were allowed in the church, it would be empty. . have never seen anything from Warren which would suggest gays are not allowed. This story is BS.
"Very clear"?
Where?
Chapter? Verse?
Very well said, and I totally agree.
I’ve never been a fan of Pastor Warren. There is just something about him that rubs me wrong. Why single out the gays? Is their sin any better or worse than any other sin? The Word tells us that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
To single out one group of sinners and say that they ARE NOT WELCOME in the prescence of the Lord really smacks of arrogance, pride and bigotry. Who the HELL is Rick Warren to decide that SINNERS are not allowed to come to the cross?
That is not a man of God. That’s just a pr*ck.
“The Bible is very clear about believers giving the first 10 percent to the Lord.”

It is only an old testament concept. Christians are to “sacrifice”. It means that for some people 10% is not enough and for others it is too much. The whole concept of tithing is right up there with animal sacrifices. The ONLY reference in the new testament that I have ever been able to find is this:
Matthew 23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Notice the past tense, “ought you to have done”.
Ten percent is a “rule of thumb” for Christians.
I don’t really know anything about Rick Warren. Who is he?
Malachi 8: 8 - 12. One of my favorites. I’ve been testing him for about six years now. He hasn’t failed me once!
>>Never bought one of his books, ever.<<
I did. Did the “study” and the whole thing. There was lots of good stuff in there. But then, there is lots of good stuff in the BOM and the Koran.
