Islamic Jihad claims responsibility for rocket attacks on Israel

GAZA, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian armed group on Sunday claimed responsibility for firing rockets into Israel from Gaza Strip, which slightly injured one person.
In a statement sent to the media, the Islamic Jihad movement said its militants fired 10 home-made rockets and several rounds of mortars into southern Israeli towns of Sderot, Ashkelon and Eshkol community.
The statement said the rockets fire kept nearly an hour early on Sunday morning.
Israeli sources said a Thai worker sustained minor injuries and a woman was treated for shock in Sderot.
The rockets have been falling into Israeli border communities since Saturday when a six-month ceasefire expired.
Also on Sunday morning, Israeli warplanes destroyed a rocket launcher that was set for firing missiles into Israel in northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian witnesses said.
The witnesses said the Israeli air strike did not cause any injuries.
