Funny guy.
We have children, she home schools them, keeps the house, washes cloths, cooks meals, and virtually endless other things...
Hardly “sponging” off of me. This may be a strange concept to you but we work as a team to achieve our goals in life. We are more than the sum of our parts.
In most states the debts of one spouse are equally the responsibility of the other. So the ability to “pay” is a function of both, not either individual.

It does not, however, entitle her to her own credit rating.
Suppose I authorized her a line of credit for a cell phone plan .
Tomorrow, you kick her out on the street. No skills, no job.
What then is my recourse in collecting the bill?
No paying job, no credit. Welcome to reality.

In addition to all the tasks mentioned, I make all the family's appointments and see that everyone gets to them.
I research vendors for any repairs, upgrades, maintenance to our home, them make sure they do the job and get paid.
A good wife is like a CEO. We run the business of our family. Many times I've said, “I need a wife” All of my female friends know just what I mean.
Hubby makes good money. I make sure it goes as far as it can. We make a good team.
When you shop for life insurance the agent always tells you to insure your stay at home mom wife. If she gets hit by a bus, you'll need lots of money to pay someone to do everything that she did.

Actually, it would be in your wife's best interest to establish her own credit, in her own name in the event (God forbid) that something happened to you. The time to establish credit is when things are stable, not in a time of uproar.
Just 2 cents of advice......carry on with the interesting flamewar with HG
